"Wow, OK. That's dedication to a cause if I've ever seen it. Yeah, I'd love to go back to Mewni. And…you know…thanks for waiting. I just know it would end up going bad if I was trapped in a crowd."
"Wow, OK. That's dedication to a cause if I've ever seen it. Yeah, I'd love to go back to Mewni. And…you know…thanks for waiting. I just know it would end up going bad if I was trapped in a crowd."
“Yeah, I guess it can be called dedication. Though, I would call it something else. I’m not sure what I would call it though. Anyways, you’re welcome. I certainly wouldn’t like anything to happen to you or to anyone else if you were trapped in a crowd.”
"I was worried more about the others in the crowd. Guess who can turn into a fire demon? I haven't told you because it hasn't happened for years. Last time it happened I had to hide away. Took years before I felt I would be accepted in Waterfolk Kingdom."
Ember was shocked, but of course, that wasn’t much of a surprise. She made a mental note to always wait for a busy place to be almost empty whenever she wanted to take Kami somewhere. Being banned from somewhere wouldn’t be fun.
“Oh gosh.”
"Hah, yeah. It's not fun. I wouldn't change my life for anything else, but I do wish some things were different." She stood up, brushing herself off.
Ember nodded and also got up. She took out her dimensional scissors from her pocket and cut open a portal back to Mewni. She went through it, falling down, down, down, down. Apparently, the portal appeared in the middle of the sky, and not on the ground for some weird reason. She quickly conjured Cloudy and she fell on the fluffy and soft cloud.
Kami sighed before following Ember, stepping through the portal. She realised almost immediately that something had gone wrong, a fact that should be obvious. To avoid herself falling too hard, she ignited the flames on her feet. This allowed Kami to simply float.
“Weird, this has never happened before. Why would the portal appear in the sky instead of the ground?” She jumped off the cloud and landed on the grassy ground. She looked at the empty town with a blank expression.
Kami softly glided down to the ground, feet stepping lightly on the grass. The town was empty, an emptiness that made her feel more at home than she should have. Store vendors were still out and serving, though no one was purchasing their trades.
She noticed that there was no costumers. None. It was just her, Kami and the Store vendors. She really didn’t like the feeling she was getting, but she shrugged it off.
“Well, I guess it’s time to give you the official tour of the town.”
"I am so excited," Kami breathed. "I've always wanted to explore Mewni properly but have been unable to. Where's the best place to go? I have…" She looked in her Mewni currency purse. "…about $162."
Ember thought for a while before shrugging. “There’s so many good places to go, I can’t really choose one. I guess we can go to all of them and see if you like anything from there.”
"Then let's walk around. I have no idea what's sold here." She began to walk through, looking at the wares being sold. There was a lot of variety. One vendor was simply selling jewelry. Another vendor was selling slime from the Slime Kingdom. Very odd.
“A lot of things that’s for sure. There are various stands for food all around the kingdom, very few stands that sell weapons, and believe it or not, there are a ton of sands who sell things they’ve collected from monsters, witches, etc. Y’know, the usual.”
"Oooh…I've been wanting to get a new mace for a while. And Papa's birthday is coming up soon. He's been wanting a bastard sword for ages."
(i forget which one's which but i'm referring to marco)
She stopped what she was doing and turned around to face her friend. “A sword? A blasted, bloody sword?” Ember said in a almost high-pitched voice. She stared at her for a bit before shaking her head and went back to what she was doing.
"No, a bastard sword. You know, the ones where the handle is long enough for two-handled combat. He really wants one. I ain't gonna deny my father that." Her tail swished slightly. "Especially an awesome one like he is."
She shook her head as she turned again once again. “No, I don’t know.” Ember wasn’t the type of person who knew the name of every sword in the damn universe. No. Besides, she never really relied on weapons. She preferred hand-to-hand combat and magic. Occasionally, she would use weapons, but it was only when it was really necessary.
“And please do not start again on how awesome your parents are and how no one could ever compare to them. I think hearing it once was enough of a punishment for me.”
"Oh, don't be like that. Do you know how much I look up to your parents? Star literally saved the fucking world. She didn't do it with Papa's help. She didn't do it with Dad's help. She did it herself. She's like my role model. And forgive me if I love my parents too much."
Ember smiled warmly at her friend. “One can never love their parents to much. It’s I dunno, imposible, I guess. Anyways, do you want me to take you to one of the weapons stands? Perhaps they have the sword your looking for.”
"Ooh, yes please." Kami smiled widely, revealing her clearly sharper teeth. Then she closed her mouth quickly. "Do you think they'll be scared of me, Ember? A lot of people are scared of Dad."
Ember smiled briefly and then shook her head. “They won’t. Just because a lot of people are scared of your dad, doesn’t mean they’ll be scared of you. Now come on, let’s go to that stand.” She started walking and then stopped. “Coming?”
Kami paused, thinking. People were scared of her dad because he was a demon. She was one too. It made sense that everyone would be scared of her as well. But she trusted Ember, pushing the thoughts aside. "Yeah. Sorry."
She rolled her eyes and took Kami to the stand. The stand had all sorts of weapons. From swords, to daggers, to knifes, to poisonous arrows, to a small weapon that looked like a ball—Ember knew to not to be fooled by the appearance of a weapon. They could look small and harmless, but they were really dangerous—to simple weapons like slingshots. She smiled at the boy behind the stand.
“Good afternoon, William.” Ember said sweetly.
“Good afternoon, Princess,” replied the boy with a smile.
Kami smiled widely, her eyes getting bigger. Her brown eyes were full of joy while her red eye was surprised. She loved it. So many weapons. So much stuff to do damage with.
