Karina had to look away from Lisette's chaotic pile of toppings as she got a simple strawberry flavor. Stepping over, she took chocolate sauce and made smooth and even drizzles over the top. Taking a spoon she grabbed fresh strawberries as her second and final topping. Too much ruined the frozen yogurt itself. Especially if it was a bunch of flavors that didn't match. Just thinking about it disgusted her. She'd probably have to look away from the other girl to avoid gagging.
Aina mixed chocolate with a raspberry flavour and topped with more raspberries, paying and immediately eating the treat. "There are so many perks for getting away from adults.'
Lisette swallowed. “Hell yeah! My mom would never let me do this! It’s no healthy! There’s no fruit! That won’t help you grow!”
"And it might make you sick with all that junk on it," Karina muttered, taking a bite of her own ice cream. She was a bit proud of Aina for not doing the same as Lisette. At least it would be easier to hold down her food and not look at two monstrosities.
Cosmina joined them after paying for hers. She’d ended up covering it in every available kind of chocolate topping. Cosmina giggled. “It’s not fun unless it’s monstrously unhealthy,” she chimed in.
Lisette tapped her froyo to Cosminas “cheers! And I agree completely! Fresh vegetables for almost every meal gets so boring. If I didn’t have aunt Emilíe to give me sweets I would surely die!” The redhead shoved a huge bite of vanilla froyo and brownie into her mouth. “Mmmmmmm”
Shifting a bit impatiently, Aquila made his way to the cashier with a small cup of vanilla fro-yo topped with a sweet drizzle of caramel, and a single strawberry. “Fresh vegetables sounds almost heavenly compared to… that.” He vaguely motioned at Lisette’s mountain of toppings. Twirling the spoon, he wondered when he’d be able to confront Karina and eventually regain his power.
"Thank you! Someone with common sense," Karina said, not caring how rude it might have been. "Honestly that looks like the path straight to diabetes and bad flavor combinations," she added, shaking her head. It was kind of lucky too with the shop they were in. No one paid any mind to a couple of teens eating together. They seemed unaware of royalty being in their midst. And that was the best part about it. No news getting out meant no parents finding out. Or worse.
A chuckle slipped out before he was even aware of who was talking. As he recognized the voice his jaw clenched, and dark eyes averted themselves to focus hypnotically on a drop of caramel that slid dangerously toward the edge of his cup. Promptly he scraped it off and scooped the spoonful of froyo into his mouth. It would probably be best to not respond at all, he thought, instead of accidentally letting anyone catch the hatred directed at their heroine.
“Eating something unhealthy once in a while won’t give us diabetes,” Cosmina argued, not noticing Aquila’s expression. “We’re just having fun, even if Lisette has weird taste buds. You just wish that you could taste this chocolately goodness.” She grinned, spooning another bite into her mouth.
"If I did, wouldn't I have gotten the same thing as you?" Karina asked rhetorically. "And I really only meant Lisette's mountain of toppings. At least yours is all chocolate," she added, gesturing to Cosmina's cup of frozen yogurt. The girl then took a bite of her own strawberry chocolate froyo. She smiled lightly, savoring the flavor.
Cosmina shrugged. “Fair enough, I guess,” she responded with a small smile. “I think I’m just addicted to chocolate or something.”
Lisette sighed. “Okay. You don’t eat them together! I pick off the gummies and the marshmallows and eat the brownies with the vanilla. It’s simple! I just wanted candy! I love candy!”
Aina nodded in understanding. "I mean, I totally understand the urge to put on as many toppings as possible, but that… may be excessive."
Cosmina shrugged. “I mean, you can do whatever you want. If you like it, then that’s great.” She ate another bite and smiled, savoring the chocolatey taste.
Vesper was silent, simply following along with the group without comment. He ran a hand through his dark hair, eyes flicking between the group.
Lisette ate all the gummies, then all the marshmallows and finally began to eat brownies and vanilla.
Cosmina finished her froyo, having chocolate on her lips and somehow even a smidge on her nose. "That was delicious." She grinned.
Lisette swallowed her last brownie. “Agreed. Now what do we do? I’m bored.”
"Cosmina, you have a bit on your nose," Karina said with a small smile forming on her features. She had grabbed a napkin to avoid having the chocolate sauce get all over her face. Not as fast as the other girls, Karina had a few spoonfuls left in her cup.
Cosmina blushed and rubbed it off. "Thanks. Did I get it?" she asked. "As for what to do next, I have no clue. Maybe we can go shopping?"
Karina nodded, taking another bite of her frozen yogurt. She listened to the suggestion and desperately hoped that Aina either didn't get pulled into paying for everyone or went crazy with the spending on her own. Instead of saying anything more, the girl focused on the last of her frozen treat.
Aina smiled. She hadn't been able to finish her frozen yogurt, but it had been amazing. "Sounds like a plan," she agreed.
The redhead shrugged. “Im game if everyone else is. But in the meantime…” Lisette picked up her port and pressed play on her playlist. “How about some oldies from 2000 Second Era?”
Karina hummed before giving a small shrug. "Sure, as long as it's nothing cringe worthy," she replied jokingly before throwing away her now empty cup and plastic spoon.
