(Sure why not)
Looking around the room she spots a nervous looking first-year. Marigold remembers how she felt and decides to see if she can help, "You alright, kid?"
(Where the hell do I comein?)
(Could just be in the common room somewhere)
Jay jumped at the sudden voice, turning towards the source. "What? Y-Yeah… I'm fine, just a bit overwhelmed I suppose. It's… it's a lot to take in all at once, especially since I've never really experienced magic…" His parents' voices rang loudly through his mind from when he had received his letter. A wizard? I always knew there was something wrong with you, boy! The bruise that had been left on his cheek from that occasion twinged slightly.
"Yeah, it's pretty great though, and don't worry it'll even out soon enough," Marigold smiles kindly.
"When I got my letter it just all seemed too good to be true." Jay said quietly, looking around. He had changed into his robes almost as soon as he had gotten them, as they were now essentially his only clothing that fit. All his other clothes were way too big; things he had gotten because his parents didn't want them. "I'm not entirely sure how to feel about it all…"
Mari nods, "All a bit surreal? You'll get used to it, it's a nice place. Hogwarts is my second home and I'm sure it will become yours too."
"Wish it could be my first…" Jay whispered almost inaudibly to himself. Clearly this place was much better than his home, though he hadn't even seen much of it yet. He had a feeling that he wouldn't want to go home for the summer, back to pain and hunger, back to where if the word magic was uttered he would be beaten. As he thought about it. he became aware of just how many bruises and cuts he had right at that moment, how many scars, and how loosely the robes fit on his overly thin frame.
"Pardon?" Mari asks, not quite hearing what Jay had said clearly.
"It's… i-it's nothing…" Jay said quietly. "Just wish I didn't have to go back 'home' in the summer…" His house had never truly felt like a home to him. He didn't feel safe or comfortable there, and he definitely wasn't wanted. Perhaps he could convince the headmaster to let him stay.
"Oh," Mari pauses, through reasoning, she could guess why "I mean summers only 6 weeks long." She says, not really sure how to respond.
(Gtg, sorry, I should be back in about an hour)
"True…" A pink tint rose to Jay's cheeks and he turned away. Six weeks of hell, then I can come back… heaven knows how much they'll… well, since they know they've got such a limited time… He shuddered a bit at the thought.
(Nnnnnnoooo)
(Ugh fine.) Melanthea was sitting quietly on the couch, reading her book on Care of Magical Creatures, and slowly eating a box of chocolate frogs she had bought on the train. Getting bored of reading, she glanced up and looked at the new kids. A lot of them seemed nervous or anxious. "Wonder why?" She thought sarcastically to herself and took another bite of the chocolate frog.
(IM HERE CLASS IS OVER HAHA.)
(What?)
(YEET SCARLET)
(BACK)
"Yeah, well just enjoy your time until then. If you've got any questions, feel free to ask me," Mari says.
(HAWKKK)
Jay nodded, feeling pretty awkward and nervous. Did I just give myself away? I'm not allowed to tell anyone, no matter how bad it gets or they start drinking even more… I just have to put up and shut up, even if it hurts… Don't trouble others with your own silly problems…
