"That must have been a real shock…I really didn't understand what my father had been doing until I was older…yeah I was sad but I also was…so furious that he'd do this to my family. " Theo started to tear up just a little "That he'd put himself and us in danger because he wanted to make some more money that we didn't even need." Theo sounded bitter, for he still never forgave his father.
”Yeah, it was.” she almost laughed. ”It was the officer who I met in the hospital after he got taken to the E.R. Cop was a Bauerschwein. I’m surprised he didn't take off running as soon as he realized what I was.” she chuckled at the memory. Meg tightened her hug as she heard his tone. ”It’s ok to be upset. It was kinda a dumb decision but people make bad choices sometimes.”
"I'm so sorry Meg that you've had to learn all this on the fly…it's not an easy one to get used to I imagine…but I do wanna help you…one Grimm won't be enough for the things that happen I'm starting to realize…It wasn't enough that night…I don't want you to die like your dad did…I really don't and I know it'll happen if you contiune alone in this." Theo told Meg as they hugged
”It’s ok, Theo. You're right it wasn't easy but it wasn't as on the fly as you think. Remember, I told you I spent a year going through my dad's collection.” she told him reassuringly. ”He gave me the key to his cabin when the doctors let me see him after the surgery. After that, I started self-training but I honestly still don't really know what kind of Grimm my dad was. All I can do is the best I can.” Meg sighed a little with a soft smile. ”But I’m glad I got to know you.”
"You're doing great I think." Theo whispered to her "I'm so glad I've gotten to know you Meg…I really am." He told her before breaking the hug, his woge this time he limited to just his eyes, and he though for just a moment…he could see a bit of brown in her ink pool of eyes.
Meg chuckled a little at the compliment. ”Me too, Theo. Me too.” she smiled before playfully ruffling his hair. It felt really good to have a friend again… a real friend that she didn't have to hide this from. ”Hey… If you're serious about helping me, I could show you the cabin and maybe teach you a little if you want.” she offered.
He nodded "That'd be great Meg! It's a little late now but we have all weekend that we can." Theo seemed thrilled at this "Man this sure sounds weird but I think a good weird." he chuckled "Alright it's getting late and I don't want you to have to get home too late now"
Meg smiled, having expected his enthusiasm since he seemed so excited when she lent him the kanabo. ”Sure. Tomorrow too soon?” she asked. ”We may not be the first friendship but you'll be the first Wesen to see my dad's cabin.” she said as she stood up.
"Sounds awesome!" Theo responded and gave her one last hug. After he let go he told her "Be safe going home. I'll see you tomorrow."
Meg laughed softly and hugged him again. ”See you tomorrow. Hey, what time should I pick you up?” she asked as she grabbed her jacket and her bag.
"Umm just be here be anytime after eight thirty am and I'll be ready." Theo smiled and opened the door for her "You have a good night now."
Meg nodded and headed out the door. ”Ok. I can call you before I head over.” she offered, smiling back. ”Good night, Theo.”
He gave her a large smile before he shut the door, leaning against it "Man that woman is incredible." he muttered and started to get ready to go to bed, knowing he was going to have a full day tomorrow
She smiled broadly and headed back to her car. She knew she’d have to straighten up the cabin a little but she was excited about having him come over. ”What a sweet guy.” she murmured.
Soon Theo was passed out asleep in his bed after he had showered, for once having a deep dreamless sleep, so he slept fully resting.
Meg made it home safely and wrote in her journal about Theo. And her memorable experience with him, smiling the whole time, before going to bed.
Theo awoke early the next morning and seemed to have a bounce in his step. He seemed happier than he usually was so he had motivation to clean his entire apartment. This was going to be a great day he would keep telling himself
Meg woke up a little earlier than normal and started stretching. As much as she enjoyed spending time with Theo, weekends were usually a routine day. She couldn't really afford to let herself get out of shape, she needed to stay ready. She hadn't forgotten about Theo coming over, so she was planning to do only half of her morning workout.
He played music over a speaker in his room and plucked a book from his shelf. He always took home one book per week that was getting too old to be sold. This one happened to be an old historical fiction title.
Meg had just finished half of her usual run when she decided that would be enough of her work out for the day. She took a quick shower to freshen up and got dressed before she called Theo. As she waited for an answer, she walked around the cabin to see if there was anything she needed to put away.
Theo picks up once he turns down his music "Hello Theo Sutton owner of Pager Turner how can I help you?" he answered in his professional manner since he hadn't gotten Meg's number yet.
Meg couldn’t help the slight chuckle as he answered. ”Hey, Theo. It's Meg.” she smiled, putting a couple of normal books back. ”Do you always answer your phone like this when you're not at work?”
"Yeah most calls I get are from costumers." Theo chuckled a bit "You ready for me?" he asked as he went over to his key hook
”Makes sense.” Meg laughed a little. ”Yeah, almost. I’m actually about to leave and head over.” she said, grabbing her bag and car keys.
"Great! I can't wait. I'll be ready Meg." he told her as he grabbed the keys off his key hook and exited his now clean apartment, locking the door behind himself as he took the stairs down today.
