The next few minutes passed in total silence. All the two did was hold onto each other and cry. The situation was a lot for both of them to handle. Someone so close to them had suddenly died, and there was no fixing that. They would have to live without Shuichi. However, it would be difficult for them to adjust, so, for the time being, all they could do was hug each other and cry. They were both really upset by everything.
Rantaro eventually led kaito home, making some food and taking it to the grieving stargazer
Kaito had been silent the entire time, even after Rantaro took him home. There was a lot going on in his mind, as it was all too much to process. He got his boyfriend back just to figure out that he was dying, and all to lose him on the same day. So much had happened in such a short time span. It hadn't even been a full day since Shuichi returned home, and now he was dead.
Once Rantaro handed him the food, he couldn't help but push it away and reject it. He didn't want to eat at the time. He didn't want to do anything other than stay where he was and cry. It was unusual for him to feel that way, but that was part of why it was causing him to completely break down. He wasn't used to feeling upset, as he would usually push through everything with a false sense of optimism. That wouldn't work here, so all of his emotions showed as he began to break down.
Rantaro sighed and pulled kaito into a gentle hug
Kaito hugged the other back after a moment, but he wasn't entirely sure why the other cared so much. He knew that he and Rantaro had been best friends since childhood, but surely he had better things to do than help him. He lost one of his best friends, and yet, all he seemed to care about was how his other best friend was feeling. It didn't make sense to Kaito. How could someone be so calm in those circumstances? He had no idea, but he stopped questioning it after a moment. He instead decided to just hold onto Rantaro and cry, remaining silent aside from soft cries.
Rantaro was being strong for the others, inside he was breaking down. He was trying to be there for the other as he tried his hardest to not break down with kaito
Kaito knew that Rantaro was upset as well, as he had seen him cry earlier that day, but he couldn't tell him to express his emotions. He wasn't in the mood to say anything, so there was no way for him to do so. All he could do was cry, even as he felt himself slowly growing tired. He wasn't going to allow himself to sleep or anything, though. He was just going to stay in the other's arms and cry.
Rantaro would place soft kisses, squeezing kaito every now and then
Kaito wasn't sure why the other kept showing him affection. It brought him some minor comfort, but it was going to be a little while before he was over the death of his lover. Everything had happened so quickly, which left him with absolutely no time to prepare. The more that he thought about it, the worse that he felt. He felt like he could have done more for Shuichi, more to make his short life a happy one. He felt horrible about that, and now his lover was gone. It was difficult for him to adjust. As he stayed in Rantaro's arms, his cries gradually turned into sobs.
Kaito didn't seem to mind that the other was holding him. Being in someone's arms brought comfort, and while that was minimal comfort, it was something. It didn't seem like he would calm down soon, though. It seemed likelier that he would eventually cry himself to sleep. Eventually, he did. His soft cries and sobs faded as his breathing began to even out. He had fallen asleep, tears still staining his cheeks as the final ones fell.
Rantaro sighed softly, moving to lie down with kaito on his chest. He was tired, his mind and body were drained of any energy he did have
At first, Kaito slept peacefully. He was completely drained of energy, so there was no way that he would wake up soon. That was for the better, as he desperately needed the rest. However, after a few hours, he woke up again. It was unclear what was preventing him from sleeping, but he didn't want to go back to sleep. From that moment on, he remained awake. He didn't cry anymore, as he no longer could, but he didn't want to sleep. He didn't feel like he should, for some reason or another.
His mind wasn't handling the situation well, so he felt like pushing his limits. Going a while without eating or sleeping would be fine, or at least he thought so. He was just going to wait for Rantaro to wake up, but after a while, he wasn't sure if he could. He still felt really upset, and on top of that, he was feeling generally unwell that day. While it was still minor, much like it had affected him the day prior, it seemed that his condition was minorly affecting him that day, too.
Rantaro would wake every so often, rubbing kaito's back before he fell back asleep,
Kaito didn't seem to mind, but he never said anything about his issues in the brief moments that Rantaro was awake. He figured that the other needed to get some rest, and while he knew that he did as well, he just didn't feel like going back to sleep at the time. He was just going to remain there, awake, waiting for Rantaro to fully wake up that morning.
“Kai. Sleep please..” rantaro mumbled for the second time.
Kaito shook his head in response to the comment. He wasn't in the mood to sleep, so he kept refusing. There was a lot on his mind, so he couldn't bring himself to sleep as it was. Even with how weak and tired he felt that morning, his thoughts were keeping him awake. It was difficult for him to sleep when the events of the previous day kept playing in his mind.
Rantaro ran his fingers through the boy's hair
Kaito noticed that the other had to be awake if he was going to keep running his fingers through his hair. He sighed softly, figuring that it was probably a good time to talk to him. It was about seven in the morning by then, so he figured that they could maybe start their day.
"Good morning…" he stated softly. His voice was rather raspy after all of the crying the previous day.
“Good morning,” he said back with a sift chuckle
Kaito couldn't help but give Rantaro a small smile. Something about the other's soft chuckle made him happy. It felt like things could possibly get better. While it would still take a while for him to adjust to everything, Rantaro was helping him feel like things would be okay. Maybe that day could be a good one. It was starting to feel like it.
Rantaro softly rubbed Kaitos back, pulling the blanket closer
Kaito smiled softly at that and snuggled into both the blanket and into Rantaro. He appeared to enjoy the warmth that came from both. He wasn't entirely sure why, but he felt like staying with the other throughout the day. After everything that happened, with how he'd need to get over the previous day's events, it made sense. He was generally worn out and tired that day.
Rantaro just held him, kissing his temples at times
Kaito didn't seem to mind the occasional displays of affection that the other gave him. He would occasionally smile at some of them. The next couple of hours passed just like that. Kaito had fallen asleep after a little while, so he got a bit more sleep in the end. After those couple of hours passed, he woke up again, but he seemed to be in a better mood. He was still tired, but that didn't surprise him. At least he was in a generally better mood.
