What's everyone's opinion on a witch doctor character?

I sorta have a design here:

I just don't know which culture she'd be… Any thoughts?

that is. very awesome. the eyes kinda remind me of the villain from princess and the frog.

Does anyone have idea's for powers and characters the following countries? I have some, but I just want to run them past an audience. If you have idea's yourself, please PLEASE don't shy away from telling me. The idea's are yours and I will listen to your word.

I'll give like, the Greek girl a sword and shield, with long blonde hair and stunning blue eyes. She'll be called Athena and have really really good leadership skills and the ability of super strength and super bone density (Which she likes to believe is a gift from the Greek gods).

The Aboriginal guy (My Australian Homie) should have like a boomerang and the ability to implant images into peoples minds, making them see demon's and horrible visions. He'd be called Dingo, and he should have scruffy, unkept hair and a white body paint.

I do! He’s so cute! So maybe instead of calling him Dingo give him an Aboriginal name like Nullah or Iluka? And maybe instead of having a boomerang he could have a spear and a Woomera (spear thrower). A boomerang works too but it’s just a suggestion! He could also carry around like eucalyptus leaves that combined with some other plant creates an aroma that knocks people out? Just some suggestions, feel free to ignore all of this!

YES! I love that last detail with the eucalyptus! He could like chuck into like a building filled with bad guys, and wait for them to be knocked unconscious before beating the rest up with his spear. THAT'S SO COOL! I love your idea's!

Lol and thanks! With th eucalyptus he could combine it with wattle or some other native plant like that. I can’t think of anymore off the to of my head right now, ooft.

I have to go out for a couple hours right now but I’ll try and think of some other ideas for other countries for ya!

Don't forget my greek girl! And france would be interesting for controlling metal, since I am also from france and they have worked with a lot of metal in the past. Eiffel tower, louve, etc. But research first, lol!

Okay so while I would love to help, the first thing that's popping in my head in "American from the Southwest with fire or air powers/something like that cause I've heard both associated with the region", which is competitively pretty lame, but I love seeing all these starting to form and knowing me I'll think of something later so may I just stalk until then?

Literally no clue. America is really diverse, so they could be any ethnicity. Again, it was the first thing that popped in my head. There was not forethought to that.

Hello, I might have a few suggestions on a Filipino character!

I may have to do more research to find something that can relate specifically to cloning, but I think it'd be interesting to have a Filipino character (boy or girl, I don't care) who is an arbularyo or a mangkukulam.

Arbularyos tend to live in deep rural areas of the Philippines and are witch doctors who tend their patients with the practice of hilot, or the use of herbs and massages to cure illness and disease. Mangkukulam are also witches, but practice kulam, or sorcery/dark magic rather than healing. Different from arbularyos, they put curses/rituals to punish others rather than heal. It is said that some mangakukulam practice dark magic to help protect their family and often live in isolation from society. A bit of background for that, though feel free to do more research if you want to!

Another suggestion (maybe a bit more difficult, but don't feel obliged to do so!) could be a biracial character where the cultures of their two parents are mixed? I dunno, I thought that'd be a pretty cool idea if it's manageable.

Sorry Its taken me a while to get back to answer everyone's questions. I wanna say thank you to all of you who have contributed so far, and you should know that all of your ideas mean so much to me!!! ⊂(・▽・⊂).

@Cupcake-Filled-With-Thumbtacks That's a pretty cool idea for the Italian character. A luck weaver could be awesome to use as a character. How would his abilities work though? Why would this work for an Italian character in terms of cultural background (It doesn't have to though)? What flaws could he have? What kind of aesthetic do you think you'd give him? I'll look into some designs myself :D

@AshWillow Thanks for answering my question with the witch doctor character :). Would she be from El Salvador maybe? Also got round to looking at the Japanese plant bender, and it should be available for public viewing now. Please tell me if their is anything you would like me to add to her :P

@lotus Thank you so much for helping me out with the Fillipino agent. I've been trying to look into it's culture for some time now, so thank you for finding idea's that could very well work as characters. I'll have to decide on which one to pick, but both of them are really good! Also going off on your Bi racial characters having to powers question, the answer is definitely YES. In later events, when half of the students escape from the academy by naval boat, they all go to lead their own lives as one, big, massive family (Some of them even falling in love and having a kid when they grow up). In those instances, those kids have the ability of both their parents powers. Thank you for your help and I appreciate your compliment!

@Fangirl_07_ I Like those idea's! Light bender would be Awesome! He could have like, these shards of glass on his person that push and pull in light if he so desires. What would he wear though? Also, YES I LOVE THE EMPATHETIC EGYPTIAN GIRL. She'd be throwing down hex'es that lock enemies into uncontrollable sadness. AND HER AESTHETIC WOULD BE SO COOL THO! Thank you for those awesome Idea's

Finally I want to get you opinion on two things

One. Should we make this as though these kids have "Powers", or that they have "Magical Abilities". Personally, when tackling stuff to do with other countries TRADITIONAL culture, I like the sound of the latter. It might just at the end of the day, make more sense because it's coming from their countries, sorta, history. Let me know your opinion and why you feel that way.

Two. What is your thought on having a Cambodian character. I have a design right here

I have a suggestion for an Indian character. I saw your idea, with the character having limb extensions. Well, the thing is, only Hindu deities have them, and they are super powerful. Making a character like this may work out, but it may also hurt the beliefs of some people. One thing I've learned about being an Indian is that people are very protective of their gods, and one simple, innocent idea may cause a controversy. Well, my suggestion is make a character having parents following 2 different religions, and with India having so many, finding a suitable pair shouldn't be a problem. Show the secularism and diversity of India through your character. If you choose a Hindu parent, you can literally pick any god, there are like, millions to choose from. I've always thought that sound bending is an amazing superpower; you can link the character to the Hindu goddess of music and education, Saraswati. Or your character can have the ability to change into any animal of his/her choice; Hinduism, like Egyptian mythology, has numerous animal deities too.
If you choose Sikhism, which is a religion that originated in present-day Punjab, India, you can have a character who is an amazing warrior, and who specialises in a particular weapon.
People often mistake India for a Hindu country; it is not. Majority of Indian concepts have only Hindu perspectives in it. I would love to see an Indian character that takes some of the other religions and philosophies too, like Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, Zoroastrianism, Christianity, and Islam.

Aren't Sikhs nonviolent?

• An Italian girl with some sort of waterbending? Idk it sounds cool. Like you're just chilling and then get into danger and BAM she uses water from the canals to take out the enemy. Or maybe she can control statues and stuff, cuz the statue of David sprinting after someone would make even the toughest baddie think twice about crime.
• There can be kids from different states and they can control the state animals, like the Wisconsin kid can control robins and such.
