"You have an odd habit of rubbing your face," she noted. "That's good with me. I need more coffee." She'd already had two, but she also had an addiction.
"You have an odd habit of rubbing your face," she noted. "That's good with me. I need more coffee." She'd already had two, but she also had an addiction.
"It's called ADHD," he said, flexing his fingers.
"Oh, that makes sense…COFFEE HERE I COME! Wait where's the cafe again?"
((Sorry I got hungry.
"It's this way," Eve said, as she started walking in the direction she had pointed. "They have the best green tea. Their coffee is decent I guess. I'm not one for coffee."
((I'm under a tornado warning, imao, wish me luck
"Y'all don't want me on coffee," he said with a laugh.
"I don't care if it's good, I want the caffeine."
As they arrived at the cafe, a tall woman with dark skin and even darker hair greeted them with a smile. "Hello, Eve. You're back, and I see you brought some friends with you this time." Eve shrugged, taking a seat at an empty table. The woman stretched her hand out to Athena. "I'm Karlan, my husband and I own this here cafe. What can I get ya?"
Runner shrugged, feeling a little invisible as he followed Eve.
Eve watched this encounter with an amused expression on her face. "Hey Karlan, This is Runner and Athena. I'm helping them out with something." She paused before adding, "I'll have my usual."
Karlan nodded. "Alright. And for you Mr. Runner and Miss Athena?"
He shook his head. "I'm just here to loiter with these two."
(mind if I jump in?)
"That reminds me." Eve turned to Runner. "Athena is looking for her friends, but I never did find out what you were doing here."
((Of course not
"Coffee. A lot of it," Athena said to Karlan.
"Like I said, I felt the spell while wandering around and wanted to know what was up."
"What does it do?" Athena asked.
A girl sitting in the corner of the shop listened quietly, her grey eyes darting over the papers she was reading and slim fingers holding the smoldering cigarette. Her neon pink hair was half shaven, falling into her petite face. She wore loosely tied ankle-high boots, ripped leggings under a short asymmetrical skirt, a camo short sleeved shirt, and a belt looped around her thin waist.
"Distracts everyone under it. That's why so many people are bumping into each other out there. Everyone's basically stupefied."
Athena leaned over the table and whispered, "I think that girl's listening." She pointed to the girl.
"Huh." Eve watched her suspiciously until Karlan set a plate down in front of her.
"Your usual, Miss Evelyn. A chocolate croissant. and for Miss Athena, some coffee. You sure I can't get you anything, Mr. Runner?"
"I'm paying anyway," Eve said, between bites of her croissant. "I recommend their waffles."
He shook his head, giving the waitress a smile. "I'm sure. But thank you."
"You should've gotten the waffles. I'm hungry."
"Why not order them yourself?"
After finishing her croissant, Eve returned her attention to the girl in the corner. Eve herself worked mostly as a spy, keeping a low profile and watching. This girl was clearly the opposite. There's no way you could hide with hair that pink. Eve couldn't see exactly what she was reading, but she watched her suspiciously nonetheless.
