She hissed at him in Russian, backing away. Hero watched them while sitting on the floor, like a child in the move theater.
She hissed at him in Russian, backing away. Hero watched them while sitting on the floor, like a child in the move theater.
"What? I never told you to grab me and I'm trying to help."
She glared at him, but made no more moves to retreat. He has point.
Athena stood silently and awkwardly, feeling bad because she couldn't do anything Being the only human sucks she thought. It's terrible. I feel so needy.
He moved closer, gently holding her arm by the elbow and inspected it. "You're lucky you grabbed me with your robot arm, or you'd have a whole lot more problems than a few singed wires."
(She isn't the only human. Hero and Clover are human, just trained as Caretakers)
"I not idiot," was all she said.
"Well, it was stupid, either way." He dropped her arm. "You'll be fine."
She tried flexing her fingers, but the burnt wires popped and sparked, and the fingers didn't move. "Well then." She could move the arm at the elbow and shoulder, but that was about it.
"I meant from, like, the whole dying a horrible death part. You'll still need to get it fixed."
"I know. Need assessment of problem before getting fix."
Hero decided to chime in at that moment. "Father won't be too pleased you ruined his precious creation for this kid." He smiled mischievously. "My, does Clover have a crush?"
She scowled at him. "You know me well enough to know that's far from the truth." Hero looked mildly disappointed.
Runner looked around for a moment, sighing. "Well, I did what I came here to do." After another moment, he began heading for the large door they had entered from, relieved to finally be done with this bullshit.
Clover didn't try to stop him, respecting his decision. Neither did Hero. They looked mournfully at the fallen Caretakers, and began the strenuous process of laying them to rest in the Temple catacombs.
"I'm FREE!" He shouted with a blissful laugh, his frustration beginning to melt away.
(Lol)
"I can still hear you, dingbat." Clover muttered under her breath as she worked to float around body parts, as she was half out of commission.
He walked cheerfully back towards the town, a huge smile on his face.
The spell around the town faded, releasing its captors from their stupor. The waning energy from the Temple worked over-time to restore what was taken from the people, at a cost of it's own life. Cracks formed on over it's surface, spider-webbing out.
"Well. I guess I should probably go try to find the little suckers…" She smiled. "Thank you, Clove. For helping. Or well, doing a lot of the work."
Clover shrugged. "Thank Runner. I only floated him and brought you all here. Runner killed him."
Runner was busy skipping down the trail in the forest in bliss.
"Well, you did more than I did, and they're my friends. But, yeah, I guess I probably should thank him." Her face crinkled. Not something I'm looking forward to.
Clover huffed a laugh, recognizing the face.
