It was such a busy place for a little town. Everyone seemed to be out and about. No drive-ways had cars and no parking lots had space. This was mixed with the badly dressed tourists, carrying cameras, maps, and little alien trinkets. The sidewalk was a mix between foreign languages, greasy foods, and crying children, who carried little blow up green men, candies, and hats that said, "Roswell!" across the top. Runner fell into the mix, happy to be distracted from his worries. All of his life, he'd been craving his lost memories. He had no clue who he had been. But, now that he knew….he wish he could wipe his brain clean and start over from scratch. Chop down his family tree and use it for firewood. It would make his life so much easier.
A small girl bumped into him. "Sorry," she mumbled. Athena looked at him and frowned. "Do I know you? You look kinda familiar." And he did look familiar, vaguely. But something told her to talk to him. ((Hmm maybe this one won't hate him lol
((oh right this one's completely human she's just super smart
He gave her an apologetic smile. "It's my bad, I wasn't watching were I was going. And, no, I don't think we've ever met."
"Hmm." She still had a strange feeling about this guy. "I'm Athena. Who are you?" ((No clue where this is going
(Aliens
"Runner." He offered his hand to shake.
She took it, grateful that he didn't seem to think she was as awkward as she was feeling. "Do you live here?"
He shook his head. "I don't really have a home. Just kinda…wander. It's why I'm called Runner." He looked a little too…clean for her to believe he was homeless.
"That seems impractical. How do you," she waved her hand in the air, "survive? Without money. I mean, I've tried wandering, and it was really expensive. Are your parents rich?"
His expression darkened for barely a moment, when she said 'parents,' but he recovered quickly. "No, I just kinda…go with the flow." He laughed. "That makes me sound like a fucking hipster."
He was probably an orphan, she realized. Time to backtrack. "How long have you been here?"
((Sure
"Bout an hour. Crazy place. I mean, they turned an alien hotbed into a tourist attraction. Kinda asking for trouble."
"Everyone's asking for trouble around her." An unfamiliar voice joined the conversation.
An incredible short elf with white hair was standing a few feet away, discreetly leaning against the side of a nearby building.
Snacking on what looked like an apple, she seemed to be quietly observing those around her, eavesdropping on some of the nearest conversations.
Most seemed to be ignoring her. If there was one benefit to her short stature, it was the fact that everyone viewed her as harmless.
A few people passed by her that she's seen earlier in another part of the town. They walked through the town carelessly, bumping into other people. "Paying no attention whatsoever in such a dangerous town," She mumbled under her breath "How idiotic."
He looked over, noticeably having to look lower than he expected. "Not necessarily."
"That's what they all say." She shot back.
"But not everyone knows magic," he said with a wink. "It's a simple spell put over the town. Even I was effected, as you can see. It's not idiocy, it's mind control."
She watched him suspiciously. He was the first the notice, and that is definitely not normal. "Who are you?" She asked, prepared to run should he be someone dangerous.
"Runner," he said cheerfully, "as I'm sure you heard from eavesdropping."
She relaxed, just a bit. "Evelyn, you can call me Eve."
