Tessa nodded. "Yeah. I'm an Immortal Demigod, only able to be killed by someone of a higher power level than me.
Tessa nodded. "Yeah. I'm an Immortal Demigod, only able to be killed by someone of a higher power level than me.
Anna just stared, eyes wide. "You didn't die…"
"Nope." She popped the P
"Oh cool!" Tristan exclaimed then sighed, "But that doesn't make sense. I was marked an X as well as you and Enderstorm. You two are both extremely powerful but I'm not."
"I don't know," Tessa said, then stood. She moved in front of them as if shielding them from something. "But what I do know is that someone's here."
"Right, so there has to be other criteria besides power. What do you three share in common that me, Lacie and Danny don't? or that the three of us share in common that Tess, Endie, and Tristan don't?" (She's Endie from now on so I don't have to type all that)
"Shapshifting?" Tessa offered, then snarled. A large leaf up ahead rustled.
The woods seemed to move for a minute before being completely still.
Tessa was as still as a predator. "This forest is a replica of part of my group's training facility. Where we test our skills in an unpredictable environment. Trees everywhere, poisonous plants, vines that can choke you if you're not careful… the like." She narrowed her eyes. "It's not easy territory."
Anna looked around, noticing the way the forest did seem foreboding. "We need a plan or something. If this is a trial, there has to be a way out for us to find. They want to learn something from us."
Tristan quickly stepped away from an ominous plant that was glowing.
"I'm going in," Tessa declared, muscled tense and ready to spring into the forest. There was a familiar scent she wanted to investigate.
"Can I come? I know forests very well." Tristan declared.
Lacie looked around trying to find something unusual.
"Um… I'd say be careful but you might be the only person who's done this before and can't die so okay." She turned towards the rest of the group. (I forget who's out of the balls or not so just assume everybody's on the ground now)
Tessa shook her head at Tristan. "No. This isn't an ordinary forest. It…challenges…you. Makes you endure your greatest fears, warps your senses, seems to be out to kill you no matter who you are." Without another word, she shot forward, running on all fours and darting over tree trunks.
(I think everyone is safe now.)
Tristan nodded and listened to what Tess had to say.
"Well then. While Tess does dangerous things, we should probably try to figure out how to get out of this."
Tristan looked disappointed but listened to Anna
"Your time issss up!" Says a slithery voice that was neither male nor female from above.
Anna froze and looked up, eyes darting across the monitors on the wall.
A disfigured child with the features of a snake and spider hung upside down from a single tether. It licked its lips. "We didn't survive for nothing!" It fell towards them, flipping its body so its needle-like fingers were outstretched and reaching for Anna.
Anna squeaked and darted into the forest, running as quickly as she could.
Anna collided into a scaled back just like Tess's.
Lacie froze with fear.
