"Sabers? Like, the swords?"
"Sabers? Like, the swords?"
Mizu: Picks Ameria up Eep!
Tessa grinned wickedly You'll see, she sang. They neared the castle, and two giant and very muscular canines lurched forward, gnashing their saber-like teeth that reached below their jaws as they slowly stalked down the steps and towards Runner and Tessa. They had short, stubby tails and tiger-like stripes down their backs, as well as curled horns that could pierce through flesh and bone.
"So, is now a good time to tell you I don't know how to say 'Stop eating me?' in dog-tiger?"
She shot him an amused smirk and fearlessly stepped forward, meeting the canines half-way. They instantly stopped snarling and instead nuzzled her as she kissed their snouts. She turned back to Runner. You're fine. And again, this is an illusion, no matter how real it may feel. She patted their heads with a laugh as they nuzzled her and jostled her around, then beckoned for him C'mon. They won't bite. They're really soft. She buried her fingers in their fur for emphasis.
"I mean, alright." He walked forward, stopping next to Tessie and reaching out to rub one of their heads.
One broke away from Tessa and turned to Runner. It sniffed him, then wagged what little tail it had and gave him a slobber bath with a single lick. Tessa tried and failed to hold in her laugh
He wiped his face free of slobber, but couldn't help but smile.
Tessa: He likes you! The Saber herded them both into the castle, nudging them both with its head. Inside was a throne room with two different hallways on either side. It was empty
"Isn't there supposed to be a king and queen?" He rubbed the Saber's head absentmindedly as he looked around.
Tess stretched her arms above her head and strolled on in as if she owned the place Empress, actually. No male ruler here. But keeping up an illusion such as this one has it's toll, even for someone as powerful as Cin. That's why there's no one here–to much strain on her.
He frowned. "How bad is it for her right now?"
She shrugged Who knows. Must not be too bad if it's still going. I've seen her have full on battles with illusions–doing actual damage, mind you–making her opponents think they're fighting her when in actuality she's hiding in a bush away from the battle. Tess frowned as well Now that I think about it, she never complains about anything. So we never know until she's literally on the floor, bleeding. And even then, she refuses help.
Blight: Had remained in his tree, wings having appeared again, curling around his body. From nearby, Ragnor suddenly appears
Ragnor: What the hell?
Eve: Ears flick forward, listening
I believe some kind of illusion magic. Fascinating it is made to such a degree.
Ragnor: Sighs, rubbing the back of his head with his metallic gauntlet covered arm
I'm tired and really not in the mood
Eve: lays her ears back
Ragnor…
Blight: Peeks out from his perch, looking to Ragnor
Oh good, you're back…what happened?
Ragnor: I'd rather not talk about it…
He frowned, unsure of what to say. He continued to look around, trying to block out a growing headache.
Tess narrowed her eyes at Runner, sensing something off with him Is the magic messing with you?
Back where the group was, Cinthia strolled out of a building and noticed Ragnor's reappearance Hm
"A little, yeah," he mumbled, rubbing his temples. "I've never been exposed to this much for so long."
Ragnor: Leans against the tree. Reaches into his pocket, once again pulling out a cigarette, lighting the end of it, then sticking it between his lips. Inhales, slowly closing his eyes
Eve: Settles on the heavy branch where Blight is hanging. Frowning, speaking softly
Had a case of corruption that needed to be taken care of…I'm sure you know how that went
Blight: Lays his large ears back
Corruption…please tell me he had help…
Eve: Gives a sad chirrup
Yes, Lord Mutaro had appeared to help with the problem thank the gods
Tess reached behind her ears and tapped something. A metallic sound followed, then she was holding out devices to him Here. They're designed to act as hearing aids for me, but they can also block out any magical influence that can mess with my head.
He looked at them, then back up to her. "Won't the same shit that's happening to me then happen to you?"
Cinthia listens to Ragnor and his little group but doesn't butt in. Instead, she pulls out a small computer-like device, sits down in the middle of the road, and types furiously on it. She continued to eavesdrop, though.
Tessa shrugged Not much can bother me, magically. She tapped her ears Just these. Sensitive hearing. I'm used to an overload of magic. Kinda comes with the job.
He hesitated for a moment, then picked up the hearing aids and put them in, letting out a sigh of relief.
Tessa grinned Better?
