Miriam raised an eyebrow as she took note of the missing tooth. She shook her head, "Yea…afraid I cannot help with that. The most I can do is offer nulberries to dull any pain."*
Her head turned, taking note as Sakuya had indeed reached into the basket, moving the set of clothes should Runner choose to change, and removing a neatly wrapped cloth. The female folded the cloth back, revealing what appeared to be vibrant blue raspberries. Though notable difference being black 'hairs' covering it. Without a second thought, Sakuya popped one of the berries into her mouth, chewing it slowly.
"So, what brings a young man like you to Lanivern Isle?"
Sakuya lifted her head, but remained silent. For she herself wasn't sure, the only thing the dragon was aware of was that she found him floating in the ocean among the remains of a wreck.
"I woke up about 7 hours ago, floating in the middle of the ocean with no memory of how I got there. Miss Sakuya found me, and took me here."
The woman leaned back in her chair, folding her hands neatly on the table before her. Her eyes shifted to Sakuya, who nodded in agreement with Runner's words. Miriam listened to his words, then finally speaking once he had finished.
"Hm…interesting. A ruined ship?"
Sakuya was the one to answer, "Yes, the wreckage seemed to be more of an explosion of some sort. I am not sure, only having listened to the creatures of the depths, they didn't seem too concerned as they tend to get when a larger beast decides to go on a rampage…"
"I was about to ask, usually a wrecked boat is the result of Jararaca, but he hasn't been in these parts for quite some time."
A frown appeared on the woman's face. She stood up, heading behind the counter, starting to reach down when she paused. Her head turned towards the door of the inn. The sound of heavy footsteps seemed to grow closer. Even Sakuya had froze in her mid-chew, listening intently to the area around them. The air seemed to even pause, as if holding its breath.
The door swung open, a figure having to bend through to get through the doorway. In the light of the inn, a beat up Hydrox had appeared. Despite the battered appearance, the tall male glanced up, flashing fangs covered in crimson. His eyes were still a bright blue glow.
"Heya good-looking, whatcha…OW! WHAT THE FU…HECK?!?!"
A glass mug had collided with the top of Hydrox's head, followed by the angry voice of Miriam, "Stupid idiot! Look at you! What or who did you get into a fight with now?!"
"Damn, guess that's one way to greet your 'beloved'…"
Miriam seemed completely furious, but that fury was starting to give way to concern, "Hydrox Seaborne!"
"Ok, ok, damn. No need to bring my last name out…just a couple of interlopers thinking they could muscle in, ya know."
He rubbed his nose, watching the exchange with amusement.
Harper looks at the crowd in front of her, quite confused. She looks at Runner, "Whats going on?"
Hydrox moved to the side, coming to sit down on a chair opposite the side of the table of Runner and Sakuya. The blue glow of his eyes started to dim down a bit, calming. There were several torn and bloody jagged wounds across his body. He flicked his tongue out, still forked like a serpent's, running it across his lips. Hair had fallen over his left eye, crusty with what could only be dried blood. His still visible eye glanced over to Runner.
"You ok kid? Shit kinda went all to hell back there? Though suppose I should shut up, as everyone else has already probably worried over you, can get annoying I'm sure."
Miriam had made her way over to Hydrox who was still rubbing the top of his head. Compared to the giant of a man, the woman seemed tiny, even in his seat. Her amber eyes looked over his beaten body, noticing certain tears in his clothes. Miriam spoke softly, "You had to shift, didn't you?"
Hydrox glanced back, "Yea…don't worry about it love…"
He rubbed his face. "To be honest, I have no clue. I mean, physically I feel great, but mentally…" He paused for a moment. "I had to shove something out of my head, something that was there before me. It's like…like an empty space where something should be. Where he should be."
Harper shifts her weight onto on leg, "Ok can we not start this sappy crap? I really dont feel like being in a real life chick flick." Her glance shifts from her shoes to Runner. Why did he have to be so cute? Honestly he can stop.
He tilted his head, looking over at her. "What do you mean?"
((lmao he's over Tessie so this ship may set sail
"You all are talking like super cutesy and quiet and crap. You know what never mind. Sorry. I didn't say anything." She says staring at Runners eyes. She then breaks her stare and looks at her shoes.
"I just essentially fought myself, there was nothing cute about it."
"The way you are talking about it is making a sappy story. Just forgive my words Runner. Sorry you had to do that." Harper says sincerely while fidgeting with her white cropped shirt hem.
He thought for a moment. "Oh, I see what you mean. My bad." He turned back to Hydrox. "I wanted to go help."
Harper thought for minute and then finally decided now was the time to ask him, "Runner, we got off to a rough start and I was wondering if we- well i can fix this and maybe create a friendship?"
He turned back to her. "I agree. I had been harassed for, like, a good 30 minutes before we came across you, so that was why I was in a bad mood. I'm sorry."
Sakuya simply sat in the background, listening quietly to those around her. Hm, seemed another had followed and she hadn't been aware of it…
Hydrox leaned back in his chair. The male released a soft chuckle, shaking his head, "It's all good kid. I made it out with only a couple scratches…OW!"
"A 'couple scratches'? Hydrox! These are more than simple 'scratches'," Miriam's voice cut in as she had barely touched Hydrox's shoulder and he winced, "Shift…now."
The man swallowed hard, "It'll be alright love, just a couple bruised bones, nothing to worry about."
Miriam crossed her arms, "You have a broken wing. Don't even try to lie about it."
The man seemed ready to argue, but finally shook his head, chuckling again, "Damn, you got me…"
His eye suddenly looked to the individuals inside next to him.
"You know how I feel about shifting…"
The woman gave an exasperated sigh, "Hydrox Seaborne, get it over with. They've already seen dragons and whatever else was out there. I'm sure they'll understand."
"Yeah, if you're hurt, you're hurt."
"So partners or sumthing?" Harper asked Runner. She understood why he was in a bad mood, she was in a sorta bad mood then too.
He shrugged. "I'm not against it. I don't have many friends at this point, so one would help."
She sticks her arm out waiting for a handshake. "Okay, well we can start fresh. Harper J Smith, nice to meetcha."
He shook her hand. "Runner. Or Tega, apparently."
"Tega?" She cocks her head to the side. She pulls her hand back and puts it in her pocket. She looks at Runner very confused, but at the same time happy. She made a friend.
"Mhm. It's incredibly complicated, but I was raised as a demon from birth 'til nine. Basically breeded into a weapon. Then I was sent out into the world with my memory wiped clean until now, where I had to fight my old self for my own body. That's the empty space up here." He pointed to his head.
Hydrox actually seemed a bit nervous. He started to mutter something under his breath, but was instead awarded with a sharp flick to his ear.
"OW! DAMN WOMAN! WHY YOU GOTTA BE SO MEAN?!"
"Because if I'm not, you won't do anything you stubborn ass. I hope to the gods our child isn't as stubborn as you. Sakuya dear, could you please lock the door to the inn and cover the windows?"
Sakuya lifted her head, giving a slight nod. The female stood slowly, moving to do as Miriam had asked of her. As for Miriam, the woman stood up, once again looking through the basket she had set out earlier for Runner.
Hydrox muttered something again, though he stood up, moving to sit on the floor of the place. As he did, his form started to grow even larger, skin rippling, becoming dark teal colored scales. A heavy tail sprung from his spine, coming to curl around his side. A pair of horns curled from either side of his head, one of the horns being broken. As his true self came to be finally seen, what appeared to be a heavy built, humanoid draconic beast sat in Hydrox's place. He opened his blue eyes, having to now certainly look downwards, despite sitting on the floor.
"There, ya happy?"
His voice had deepened even more so now. Hydrox turned his head, looking towards his back, seeing one of the heavy, brutish looking wings was indeed hanging limp to the side. He crossed scaled arms across his chest, releasing a loud, rumbling sigh. The draconic beast's eyes suddenly shifted to Runner and his companion.
"Do try to keep quiet about what I am would ya? Might as well say what I am, my race are called Seranguis. Only people who know my true nature are of course my wife, and Sakuya. I do try to keep a low profile, for specific reasons."
