Just looked up a picture of "paprika hendl", and now I want to try it sometime.

Mamaliga doesn't look appetizing to me.
Nor does "impletata". However, I am well aware that sometimes even the most unappetizing looking dish can taste amazing.
I was watching something on TV a long time ago where a team of paranormal investigators went to the castle that Stoker based Dracula's castle off of, and the people out there really are a superstitious lot.
Something tells me that that crucifix is going to come in handy later on in the story; gotta love a good macguffin!
Robber steak sounds delicious!
Little side note that I don't need to know every little thing that Harker is eating and drinking, that does not interest me!
I don't think that asking the Count about these superstitions is a particularly great idea….
The inn's yard sounds like a lovely place.
I'd love to be able to visit the Carpathians someday.
Knowing what this story is about I can't blame the coachman for not wanting to stop, but I do feel bad for those horses…. Horses, if driven long and hard enough will often keep going until they die. :'-(
(Okay, taking a break for the night to watch some TV…. Is anyone even following this thread?)
Stone King is, obviously. I look at it sometimes. When you read Oz, do Rinkitink in Oz first. It’s my favorite.
(Oof…. I am remembering why I stopped reading this the first time that I tried to read it. I don't mean to offend any Dracula fans, but it's… boring. I'm gonna tough it out though! Might start reading something else on my list since I often read more than one book at a time.)
(A good series that I definitely recommend is Lockwood and Co. Just a recommendation ^^)
(Okay. Noted. Thanks for the recommendation!)
Okay, I can and do appreciate the descriptive language!
Well, Jonathan Harker, that's how mountains tend to work. They act as a climate barrier.
Where the heck is Bukovina?
(Oh yes. Lockwood and Co. is a really good series, Bukovina is a historical region in East or Central Europe.)
(Got distracted by things…. Friendly reminder that I am not currently taking recommendations. However, I have looked up Lockwood and Co and might read the series if I can A: purchase them; B: borrow them from someone; C: or find somewhere that I can read the series online for free.)
(I'll make a list of books that I have when I get the chance to do so.)
Red eyes, focus on the lips and "sharp-looking teeth", appearing from thin air…. Yeah, the other coachman either is a vampire, or is Dracula himself.
I just looked up the proof of slivovitz; it's 100 proof, which means that it's 50% alcohol.
Ooooooo, new vocab! I don't know why that makes me happy, but it does….
A bunch of howling dogs reminds me of that moment where all the dogs howl in either 101 Dalmatians or 102 Dalmatians (the ones with Glenn Close playing Cruella de Vil). I don't recall which one it was, nor if I'm remembering correctly as I haven't watched either of them in more than a decade!
Blue flame you say? Copper burns blue and blue flames are the hottest part of a fire.
Okay, why does the coachman keep leaving? (Don't answer this. Let me figure it out on my own via reading.) If I were Harker I'd be pissed about that, considering that wolves are now supposedly around them, even if I was scared at the same time!
It is only when a man feel himself face to face with such horrors that he can understand their true import.
I have come across my first quote for Dracula!
Okay, not going to lie…. If I were encircled by a pack of howling wolves I would've crapped myself with terror. If I were Harker I would've climbed to the front and forced those horses to move.
I have finally finished reading the first chapter…. I usually read at a much quicker pace than this. I shall (hopefully) read more tomorrow.
