By why are they not white and then one is??? Both things would seriously change the dynamic of the story and characters.

It's a modern retelling, Meg and Mr. March are black, Jo and Mrs. March are white (Meg and Jo are from previous relationships) and then Beth and amy (the most wonderful woman in the world) are mixed race.
