"Nononononono." Silver said, shoving the trail mix ice cream away and grabbing his hand before he's totally gone, stabbing his spoon back into the normal vanilla ice cream. "Eat more of this to wash your mouth out." she gave the trail mix one a push, sending it over toward Miki. "You eat that one, since it's nasty." she said to her sister.
Gabriel tenses once she grabs his hands, realizing she's not going to let him make an escape. He stares at the vanilla ice cream.
I just want to hide.
Cage takes the trail mix ice cream.
"It's gotta be better than the bacon stuff, right?"
Miki nodded to Cage. "I can't imagine many things being worse than that." she dug into Gabriel's ice cream and took a bite. "It's not to bad." she said, speaking with her mouth full. "Kinda weird, but it's not gross like the bacon one."
Silver propped her head in her hands, watching her sister and Cage, now that Gabriel was invisible so she couldn't watch him. The drawer beside Kissa opened and a spoon floated out, scooping into the trail mix ice cream on it's own.
Gabriel does as instructed, though slowly, and makes the spoon invisible as he picks it up and eats another bite of ice cream.
Cage takes a bite. "Hey! I like this one!" He smacks Miki's back. "We did good!"
"I just hope the donut one is good, otherwise this whole adventure will just be a sad mistake." Miki said, sliding off her stool and going over to the freezer again.
Silver's spoon lifted a bite of the trail mix ice cream and brought it over to her mouth. "Hmmm, that's not awful." she said thoughtfully.
It is awful.
Gabriel thinks, forcing himself to swallow his bite of vanilla.
Cage smiles. “I like it! Do you think vi will?”
Silver shrugged. "Vi will probably say they all taste like hard work and laughter, or something angelic like that that will relieve her from the pressure of saying it's actually terrible."
Miki groaned and gave Silver a shove as she set the donut ice cream down on the counter. "You hush, Sil. You didn't put blood, sweat, and tears into this like we did."
Gabriel’s eyes widen and he stares at the ice cream, his stomach churning.
They put blood in it..!?!
Cage giggles. “Vi would say something like that though. And then Ben would spit it out on the floor and ban us from the kitchen.”
Silver rolled her eyes. "You better not have put blood in it, Miki. Tears are acceptable. Not blood."
"You know what I mean." Miki popped the top off of the donut flavor. "Let's hope this one is decent so Ben doesn't ban us from the kitchen."
Gabriel stares in confusion at the girls.
Cage takes a big bite of the donut ice cream. “MMMM not bad!”
Silver climbed up on the counter and sat crosslegged in front of the trail mix ice cream, slowly feeding herself with her air-spoon while watching the others.
Miki dug into the donut flavor, popping the spoon in her mouth. "oooohhhhmuuuuwUUUURRCAAAAAYYYHHH!" she moaned, scooping up another bite and shoving it in. "ThimayesitaWWLLLwor'it!"
Cage stares at Miki, shoveling more into his mouth. “I can’t-“ he swallows, “I can’t understand a word you just said.”
"She said," Silver said, swallowing. "Oh my word, Cage. This makes it all worth it."
Miki nodded, stuffing more into her mouth before she was finished with her previous bite. "Mhmm. Di'one'ih mine. You'an have na sushi'on."
Silver blinked. "This one is mine. You can have the sushi one."
Cage beams, "Geez, you guys are a lot like Gabe and Kiss."
Kissa turns to glare at him and his smile fades.
"I mean, because no one else can understand Mik right now."
"I cant actually read her mind, like Kiss can read Gabriel's. I think. How do you understand him?" Silver asked Kissa. "Can you actually read his thoughts?"
Kiss shrugs. "I mean, I guess you can call it that. We are magical beings technically."
"Woah, so cool! Where did you guys used to live? Are there more magical creatures besides you??" Cage asks, leaning forward.
She rolls her eyes, turning around and glaring. "Suppers ready, by the way. And no, I did not burn anything."
"Wait, you're MAGIC??" Silver cried. She whirled around, looking for Gabriel. "How did you never tell me you were MAGICAL, Gabe??"
Miki wrapped her arms around the bowl of donut ice cream. "Y'all can have whatever Kissa made. I'm good with this."
Gabriel, on his way to the couch, pauses with a flinch.
Did I forget to mention that?
Kissa gets herself a plate of the pasta. “Duh, we’re magic, Sil. How else do we turn invisible, read minds and have natural wings?”
Cage lets out a loud gasp. “You’re not an experiment?!?!?”
Silver paused, one leg half way to the floor as she crawled off the counter. "You're not experiments??" she whispered, eyes widening.
Miki shoved another spoonful of ice cream into her mouth. "That explains a lot."
Kissa sighs. “Geez, you want a whole backstory?? No, we’re not. Our parents had wings, and their parents had wing so on and so forth. We’re weapons, but more stable than experiments since we grew up with our powers. Or, magic. Not technically powers.” She shrugs. “I thought you knew honestly.”
Gabriel stares at the conversation.
I completely forgot.
i- I can tell Sil all about Ryder.
And Uri.
His heart beaten quickens and a small smile crosses his face.
Silver slowly dished herself up some pasta and came into the living room, dropping down beside Gabriel's invisible self.
"How did you never tell me." she whispered, still in shock.
Miki turned around on her barstool to keep facing them. "Wait, how many of you are there?? I didn't think there was any magic in this world? CAGE WE'RE LIVING IN A FANTASY WORLD THIS WHOLE TIME."
“I’m sorry.” He whispers back. “I- I didn’t think to say anything.”
Kissa sits down on a stool at the island. “Re-lax, Mik. I think me and Gabe are the last. They were discovered a while back and they either left or were killed.” She growls the last part and starts to twirl her pasta lazily with her fork.
Cage excitedly grabs Mikis arm. “Can you teach me magic??” He asks Kiss.
She huffs. “Not really. You’re too weak.”
Silver ate a bite of her pasta. "Well." She said, speaking with her mouth full. "You can say stuff about it now."
Miki wrapped an arm around Cage's shoulders. "Can you do a magic thing? Like, not reading Gabe's brain but like, something else?"
He opens his mouth to speak, then pauses.
Oh.
Speaking.
I can do this.
He inhales, then swallows. “Ok.”
i did it.
A huge smile crosses Cage's face as he stares at Kissa for a response.
She glances at him and grins a little. “You mean like turning invisible, or shapeshifting, or making poison? Because besides that I only specialize in offensive maneuvers.”
A small smile flitted over Silver's face. She turned sideways on the couch and stretched her feet across his lap. "Come on. Tell me something about… about like when you were a kid or something."
Miki grimaced. "I want to ask her to shapeshift but I also think that would be really scary." She said to Cage.
