Late one night, Shuichi was out for a walk. Being a vampire, it was only natural for him to be out during the night, but he didn't mind. He personally enjoyed the world during the night, as it was quiet rather than full of people. As he preferred to stay away from people due to social anxiety and being easily overwhelmed by it, it was a good thing that he was most active at night. Everything about it was calming, and the night seemed like it would be another calm one.
Kokichi was in his wolf form, trotting around the edge of the woods. He didn't expect to see anyone there, but. There he was, a man walking along the lonely sidewalk that lined the Salem woods
Shuichi hadn't noticed Kokichi, as he hadn't been paying much attention to his surroundings aside from making sure that he stayed on the sidewalk. He was rather familiar with the area, so he could navigate it with ease. Since he wasn't very social, he spent most of his time in the woods, alone, usually thinking about random stuff. He didn't mind all of that, though, as he enjoyed spending time by himself in the calm and quiet environment.
Kokichi emitted a low growl as a warning before catching up to the man, intent to kill
Shuichi sighed softly as he heard the other approaching. He was far from scared, as he knew that he could easily leave, but he wondered why there was even a need to be angry. Maybe it was just the fact that he wasn't a huge fan of conflict, but he never understood the rivalry between vampires and werewolves. If the werewolf approaching him was intent on picking a fight, he would just fly away or fight back if he absolutely had to.
Kokichi lunged, but not at shuichi, he killed a rabbit right in front of him
As that was typical behavior for werewolves, Shuichi didn't do much about it. He just continued with his walk. If the other wanted to attack, then he'd do something, but until then, he was just going to walk around like he enjoyed doing on peaceful nights.
Kokichi trotted up beside shuichi and huffed, barking softly
Shuichi acknowledged the other's presence, but things appeared to be peaceful, so he continued on with his walk. He was a bit on edge, but it was a beautiful night, and he found himself with nothing better to do, so as long as Kokichi didn't attack, he was willing to stay there until he finished his usual walk.
Kokichi whined, playfully nipping shuichis heals
Shuichi sighed softly and turned to look at Kokichi. He wasn't entirely sure what the other was doing, but he realized that it was playful in nature. If he had been intending on hurting or killing him, he would've done something other than simply nip at his heels.
"What are you doing?" he asked softly, a bit confused.
Kokochi wagged his tail, putting his head into shuichis hand
The interaction continued to leave Shuichi confused, but he was relieved that the other didn't want to attack him. He noticed that Kokichi appeared to be happy as well, although he didn't understand why. At least he knew that he was safe and that there wasn't a werewolf out to attack or kill him.
"Well, I have no idea what this means, but you seem to be happy, so that's nice," he said softly.
Kokichi grabbed a stick, taking it to shuichi
Shuichi was growing curious as to what the werewolf wanted. He had never seen one that was so playful until that moment. Most that he had interacted with seemed to have the intention of fighting or killing him, but even then, he rarely had any interactions with them. He rarely had interactions with anyone of any species, though, as he just preferred to be alone. However, he noted from Kokichi's behavior that he was likely in a playful mood.
"Are you trying to start a game with me?" he asked softly. "I don't think this has ever happened before, so this is certainly interesting…"
Kokichi started to go wild, barking happily and wagging his tail so hard it shook his whole body
Shuichi couldn't help but chuckle softly at the response from Kokichi. Something about the reaction was incredibly sweet, almost adorable, to him. He wasn't sure what it was, but something about it was simply something that he found to be really cute. He wondered how the werewolf would react after the game had started. He thought about it as he threw the stick that had been given to him, hoping that the other would enjoy the game.
Kokichi ran and caught the stick in midair, taking it back to shuichi
Shuichi smiled at the reaction. He was glad that Kokichi was having fun, even if he didn't know the other at all. He decided to throw the stick again, thinking that the game could last for a little while longer.
Kokichi went to catch it, instead shifting to his human self “?”
Upon seeing Kokichi's human form, Shuichi quickly felt like he was in love. He wasn't entirely sure why, but he found the human form of the werewolf to be absolutely adorable as he stood there in the moonlight. In Shuichi's mind, he was breathtakingly beautiful. He couldn't help but smile, but the smile quickly faded as he felt a slight embarrassment wash over him. He hadn't expected to fall in love so quickly.
Kokichi laughed softly, his sharp canine teeth glowing from the moonlight “thanks! Humans just usually run from me! That's an amazing throw you have!”
The minor compliment was enough to further fluster Shuichi, as it truly didn't take much to embarrass him. He wasn't sure how he had fallen for Kokichi in a matter of a few minutes, but he had. He wondered if the other returned the feeling, but he figured that it was probably far too soon to tell. Love at first sight was an unusual occurrence for him, but something about Kokichi simply made him fall in love that quickly.
"Um, thanks…" he responded after a moment, intentionally averting his eyes as he spoke. Maintaining eye contact was difficult, especially when he was embarrassed.
