Other Side/First Side

At the dawn of time, there was one world and no other. The mythics, creatures of great power, co-existed with humans, creatures of great emotion. One day, a warrior was born from tragedy and sorrow. The lesser mythics, creatures of anger and hunger, had taken his family from him. And so the warrior fought the mythic races back into the corners of the world, slaying all those who would seek to harm humans. And with a scream of wrath and hatred, he split the world in half and banished the mythic races from the First Side into the Other. The Avenger through rage alone became the first god, laying the foundation for other immortals to emerge. The Avenger then vanished into time. Whether he is alive or dead is a topic of debate even in the modern day.

Technology without magic is the same as modern day. Technology combined with magic can achieve much more powerful effects.

Anyone can learn to use magic. Some will find it easier to use than others. Magic is based on runes and rituals, with certain symbols having powerful effects when infused with magic, or it is based on the individual. Some people have "super powers" when it comes to magic, having a form of magic that is specific to them. Patterns emerge when people have their own magic, so it is not a new learning experience for anyone but a select few.

There are two worlds, each loosely mirroring the other.
