Where my original story takes place :)

Thousands and thousands of years before my story takes place, kitsunes lived everywhere. Their numbers decreased, however, after Lucias, a strange wolf-kitsune hybrid, started to steal powers from the kitsunes. They took refuge in a world only accessible to kitsunes and their descendants - excluding Lucias. Now, kitsunes are only a myth on most worlds. Before the kitsunes hid themselves they made crystals. These crystals were gateways to the worlds that could only be used in certain ways. These crystals would allow all of those who required the knowledge of the kitsunes to be able to obtain it.

Magic can typically only be used by mythical/magical creatures or descendants of the kitsunes. To use magic, you must take in magic from the air around you and basically “reform” it. However, taking in too much magic can result with fatal consequences. Magic is split up into 13 elements: wind, earth, fire, river, ocean, forest, mountain, thunder, light, dark, time, music, and spirit. There’s also something that I don’t have a name for yet. It’s not magic because you have a set amount you can use and when it is used up all the way, there are bad side effects. It also uses spells instead of just elemental magic. Only certain people can see these spells.
