Futuristic Fantasy/Fiction with just a dash of dystopian society
it's just our universe but far out. It's beautiful and otherworldly but also dangerous.
The year was 1952. Due to a globe-wide nuclear explosion that has altered continents and their locations, wiped out entire nations, and changed Earth as we know it, all of humanity is forced to start over. Due to genetic mutations, some of the humans have achieved the age long dream of their race; they've become elves. Strangely enough, some of the other humans are also starting to look like naga and mermaids, ancient creatures of myth. The animals are changing too. And to top it all off, a new art form has sprung into being; magic. Most can use it (at the cost of energy of course).
The year is 1984. A group of elvish criminals are turned into dragons using magic and shipped off to a different continent. After ten years, the spell that turned them into dragons wears off. They sort of turn back into elves, but they have many of the qualities they had possessed as dragons too.
The year was 1998. The majority of humans have lost their magical abilities. Few still possess them. Elves have kept up with the practice though, and the dragons have kept up with magic. The races have also separated out continentally and begun to form tribes and nations that interact internationally, including the mer-people, who call themselves nauticans, the elves, the dragons, the naga, and the humans.
The year is now 2017. The dragon continent has been invaded and colonized by both elves and humans. The dragons are okay with this. Religion has also been reestablished and built up.
The year is now 2023. A new race of very powerful hybrids has begun to rise, though it is a small group. Human-elves, human-dragons, and the most powerful of all elf-dragons (they are most powerful because elves and dragons kept up with magic while much of humanity didn't). This small band of hybrids has vowed to protect the other races. Some believe the hybrids to be blessed by the gods, or maybe their children, or maybe even to be gods themselves.
The year is now 2026, and a few of the hybrids have become dark, cruel, unjust, and power-hungry. people are fighting back, but they fear that they cannot last.
The year is now 2089. The hybrids are scorned, shunned, and hated. The cruel ones are now six feet under, but the ones left are treated like monstrous beasts. They are being hunted; slowly exterminated after they became misery, war, and death incarnate. Race mixing is now forbidden. Hybrids are not to be trusted.
The Great War took place in 2158.
April and Connor Fannin were executed on April 17, 2164.
The story is set in 2174 and onward.

Not everyone possesses magic, and some people's potential is higher than others. If you have the ability to cast a spell, you can. But magic costs energy. The bigger, more complex, or more unnatural the spell, the more energy one must expend. Mages must be careful not to use up all of their energy casting spells, because it can kill them.
