The Binding of Warpartners
(Now) a form of wedding ceremony, typically of two people trained as battle partners, but evolved to also encompass peacetime, romantic weddings as well. Historically, Warpartners were not inherently lovers, but could also have been family members or really close friends (ie. people you weren't procreating with anyways), but the practice has shrunk over time to equate to homosexual marriage.
Wedding
-The binding of the couple, back to back, whilst [stuff happens]
-The new pair ritualistically spar
-Feast afterward, [where more stuff happens, more geared on the pair's parents and/or presenting the new pair with formed/prospective pairs to group up with for quadrants, depending on how rushed the situation is]
Only family members give gifts, but these tend to be rather valuable to the new couple (eg. ---)
-During the feast, inter-familial sparring is a common activity, and there is usually a prize system set up for the contestants
-More benign games?
Just as the concept of the warpartner highlights the oneness of multiplicity, the ceremony is meant to symbolize the transformation of the pair into one, and the families into a large communal set
From a long tradition of couples marrying right before one (or both) go off to war; a small celebration before battle, with games etc. stacked on thru the years, adopted into a nationalistic framework and mixed with an older tradition of battling pairs.
Some ebb and flow over the years of whether this is purely marriage or also inclusive of pairing up family and friends, tho nowadays it has solidified into something romantic
While not technically religious, the idea of bonding two into one has implications from Ischvinðar's deity, Ischvind
-Aurus, Vamah, and Yariel meet with Engrið and Ingrich at the latter's (Re)Binding with Anfryð [the three had been captured by Ròssi (Aurus' brother) out of town and taken there to prove whether Arurus' claim that he is related to Ingrich is true]
