High Elf
A High Elf is a humanoid with pointed ears that has a deep connection to the worlds' ley lines. They were proficient with magitech, supplying the world with magitech weapons and items, and were capable of building cities that flourished even in the absence of essential resources.
High Elves can only be born to other High Elves.
The High Elves are a pulchritudinous race. Both males and females are tall in height and have lean but fit bodies. They possess pointed ears and sport pale skin colors. Their manner of dress and tendency to enhance their looks is done in a beautiful and slick way. Hairstyles are very modern; their jewelry is likewise. In addition, all of their body language is sophisticated and neat, which leads them to appear calm and serene.
High Elves always possess pointed ears. The length of their ears varies between individuals, but all elven ears are pointed.
Unlike other species, High Elves do not possess a magical limit, for they are able to manipulate the raw energy around the world and within the astral lines - making their magical stamina almost infinite. For this reason, Elves are drawn to a high concentration of energy in the world.
Thus, while the high elves themselves are extremely dangerous in combat, their ability to draw directly from the astral line puts them at the greatest risk. But of course, not all elves choose to be close to these lines. Some of them prefer to do their own thing. Away from the astral lines, the elves' magic would still be potent and they'd have more "magical stamina" than other species, but it certainly wouldn't be infinite.
Foresight: High Elves are in tune with nature and the magic of the earth; through this connection, they are able to see into the future. While the extent of this ability is up to you, the characters' owner, keep in mind that it could be anywhere from seeing a few days or even years into the future. It will always be random and never set until the elf is older.
Enhanced Vision: They have eyes enhanced to see with amazing clarity, distance, or color, perhaps even in a different spectrum of light or into another dimension. The user can perceive things in a more detailed manner. In-battle, they can see incoming attacks and quickly find a way to dodge said attacks.
Magical Reserves: High Elves have the largest magical stamina of all of the species, meaning they can use a lot of it before getting worn out. They can also restore their magical stamina with ease by returning to any pockets of energy in the world or in the astral lines, and replenishing their reserves.
Vampire bites are also dangerous to a High Elf. A bite from the fangs of the vampire cause a terrible sickness, and if left untreated can turn into a terrible infection and can ultimately lead to death. A bite from a demon, more often than not, means death.
The Darkness, like medicine, is okay in small doses, but too much can be fatal. It can grab hold of the negative aspects of a person who is exposed to it for too long, and greatly accentuate them, leading to corruption. Out of all of the species in the world, the corruption of the High Elves is the most curious; the week long road to corruption for Elves includes cause emaciation and gradual insanity of the individual, turning their skin purple, black or even blue. The mental corruption can also possibly be passed to the victim's child, making the child more susceptible to corruption later in life.
Rather than drastically shorten their livespan, like with the Dwarves, Corruption extends the life of a High Elf. Corrupted Elves are known as the Drow, who have a powerful affinity for black magic. Like the rest of the corrupted creatures, the Drow are aggressive to the non-corrupted, but unlike the other corrupted, Drow retain more aspects of their intelligence. They seem to be leaders among the Corrupted, able to call forth corrupted Lycanthropes through the use of black magic, and empower other corrupted by using black magic on them. They are also capable of intelligent speech, but are unable to speak of the Darkness or the Corruption.
Corrupted individuals notably avoid the Blue Plant areas, as it seems to cause them great pain.
High Elves have a long lifespan. While High Elves can be found to live up to 10,000 years old, the average lifespan of a High Elf is around 5,000 years.
Elven children have access to their magic by the time they are a year old. They are in full control of their magic abilities once they have access to them; for High Elves, magic is an innate power that is a part of themselves, like an instinct.
High Elves find mixing with others outside their own kind is beneath them. Most High Elves view any other species with the exception of angelkin as inferior, almost like a "pet", and do not encourage mixing with them. They almost always stick to their own kind. However, their magic is so wild and powerful and when a High Elf does mix with another species, often wild and powerful things happen, such as creating Soothsayers from a pairing with a Human.
The children born to these mixed race pairings are considered "impure" by many other High Elves, and are often called Krygers. Even though these children are High Elves themselves, their now impure bloodline marks them as different from other, pureborn High Elves.
High Elves can have children with every species besides themselves except for ghouls and vampires naturally. The child of a High Elf and another species, with the exception of Humans, will always be the species of one of the parents. Elves can't skip generations. Having a High Elf as an ancestor does not count. One or both parents MUST be a High Elf in order to be born a High Elf.
However, the union between a High Elf and a Human produces a Soothsayer. High Elves with a Soothsayer create an even more powerful Soothsayer, with more powerful magic and a stronger Elven bloodline. A lot of Sooths actively attempt to pursue children (not necessarily relationships) with High Elves in order to make their bloodlines and magic more powerful.
A High Elf can see an individual's species based on their magical signature.
While High Elves have a close relationship to Soothsayers, often accepting them as soldiers in Elven society, believing them to be sacred and rare treasures. Because of this, the Elves have kept the existence of Soothsayers hidden from the rest of the world for thousands of years.
The elves do not have a particular fondness for vampires, believing them to be abominations of nature. The same is said of their relationship to lycans, who are seen as too wild and too dangerous to have relations with.
The demons are the only gray area. While the high elves have no bad blood with them, some are still somewhat cautious of them. Others, however, take advantage of a demon's weakness to light magic.
Relationship with angels are highly valued within High Elf society. Angels are a holy species to them, and should an angel ever need their help, an elf will not hesitate to assist them.
Oiche Ghealai is the primary home of the High Elves and acts as the center of magic in elven culture. It is one of the largest magitech architectures in the world, hidden from mortal eyes by clever wards. The wards deter all non-elves away from the city's barriers, leaving the city undiscovered by all other species. In the absence of functioning magitech, the Elves have had to find other means of powering and running the city.
In addition, the High Elves are a mostly matriarchal society, with matriarchs as the head of family and retaining the family name through marriage.
