Description - How would you describe Draconian's people?

A Dragon is a large, magical reptile with four limbs, wings and a devastating elemental breath. Through the use of Dragon Magic, Dragons are able to have a human form and communicate with other creatures telepathically while in their draconic form. Sentient members of the dragon species are called Draconians.

Human Appearance

Through the use of dragon magic, Draconians are able to take on a humanoid form, which they call "shells". Some may choose to hide their horns and others may choose to keep them visible. It should be noted that while in their shell, the manipulation of their weight will drop in combat - implying that they are heavier than they seem.

Identifying Markings

While using a human shell, draconians do not possess any identifying physical features or markings that signify them as dragons.

Other Forms

In their true forms, Dragons have four limbs and a pair of large, leathery wings. Dragons are diverse in appearance but their size generally correlates to their age, with young dragons being smaller and elder dragons being larger.

Their draconic form can be anywhere between the size of a house cat and size 14 on the chart; only one dragon has ever reached size 15. Dragon scales can be any color, but their scales commonly darken and become tougher as they age. A dragon's scales are extremely resistant to damage, magical or otherwise.

Other Form Details

A Draconian's features are heavily linked to the type of dragon they are. For example, water dragons may have paddles for limbs rather than arms or legs to better match their environment. Water dragons may also require water more than other draconians. Light dragons may have feathers, etc.

While most dragons have horns, there are individuals that don't possess them.

Health & Healing

Draconians are a sturdy, healthy species that rarely suffer from illness or disease. They possess a mid-tier healing ability on par with werebeasts, and recover from illnesses rather quickly.

Communication

All Dragons speak Draconian. The Draconian language is not a verbal one, but a telepathic one expressed with vibrant colors that portray the speakers' mood and tone. Because of this, it is impossible for any other species to use the language. Draconians can speak a multitude of languages usually, and generally don't have any issues with language barriers.

Species Traits

Dragons are the source of dragonsbane - the strongest material in the world. Dragonsbane is made from the scales and bones of dragons that have been melted and mixed with titanium or another metal alloy. The higher quality the metal, the better the dragonsbane will be. For this reason, dragon carcasses are highly sought after and fought over by blacksmiths. Dragonsbane armor is the best armor to have in Lore, but is extremely expensive and only commonly owned by the rich.

A cheaper alternative to dragonsbane is dragonbone. Both materials can be used to make tools, weapons, magical items and armor. Items made from dragonbone are cheaper than dragonsbane due to lower production costs. Dragonbone also sells for a hefty price in any market.

fingerprint Magic System
Branch of Magic

Dragons are magical creatures inside and out, capable of tapping into the magic that lies within them, called Dragon Magic. Most uses of dragon magic are for mundane feats, such as creating a humanoid vessle to walk among humanoids and communicating with other non-draconic species.

While in their draconic form, dragons are incapable of normal speech. Through dragon magic, they are able to speak telepathically, with their words colored by emotion. The colors the dragon speaks in portrays exactly what emotion they're feeling, and that the intensity of that color determines their tone. To be able to speak this way with a member of the draconian race is considered among one of the highest honors in the world. While there are dragons that can speak verbally while in their bestial form, the ability to do so is rare among their species.

Food Source

A Draconian's diet is generally dependent on their environment and the type of dragon that they are. For example, water dragons tend to eat more sea food and Tera dragons may be omnivores with a focus on leafy greens. Fire Dragons tend to consume foods with high sulfur content and will not eat anything raw.

Magic Abilities

» Caelus (Weather, Water, Ice) draconians have the ability to control both the wind and the water, and manipulate these elements in a weather pattern. The Caelus are one of the only Dragons that do not breathe a form of fire. Instead, they spew forth boiling hot water, whose temperature can vary depending both on age and environment. In order to breathe it, they must have taken the water in first. Some of them are strictly water dwellers in their draconic forms, having flippers rather than clawed feet; the further away they are from a water source, the more vulnerable they are. As such, they can be more territorial around bodies of water, and more docile the further away they get. Their scales can vary between different shades of blue to a combination of blue, white, and sometimes green. Weaker against Caeleste and Umbra, strong against Incursio and Tera.

» Caeleste (Light) draconians have the ability to breathe and produce light energy rather than fire, in rays or beams. Commonly called "Celestial" or "Light Dragons". Celestial dragons have a constant body temperature that almost never drops, making them impervious to the cold. They are the rarest of the Draconians whose scales can be white, gold, yellow, or any combination of the three. Weak against Umbra, but also strong against Umbra and Caelus.

» Incursio (Fire) draconians have the ability to produce and control both heat and fire. All fire draconians have elevated body temperatures that they can control at will and focus to various parts of their body. They can also affect a burning flame. The older the fire dragon, the more heat and fire they can create and affect. While in dragon form, the amount of flame they can produce is not only limited by their age but also the amount of carbon, as well as oxygen, that they consume/intake to create the fire. In dragon form, their scales can vary between orange or red. Weaker against Caelus Dragons, strong against Tera Dragons.

» Tera (Earth) dragons possess the ability to breathe green flames that can be acidic, produce acid, and use camouflage. Earth Draconians are immune to most toxins, but are always weak to their own if it's used against them. They can have brown or green scales in dragon form. Weak against Incursio and Umbra, strong against Caelus.

» Umbra (Dark) - The Umbra are commonly called Dark Dragons. Dark dragons breathe black flame called Dark Fire, capable of melting just about anything including bone, diamond, every metal in the world and dragonsbane. However, only ancient dark dragons are able to breathe dark fire. Younger Umbra dragons breathe intense blue fire. The Umbra are also the largest of the Draconians, strong against Caelus, Tera, and Sol. Weak only to Caeleste.

Weaknesses - What are the weaknesses of Draconian?

» Sweet Tooth - A way to a draconian's heart is through its stomach, and they're known for having sweet tooths. Draconians will be friendly towards anyone that can indulge their sweet tooth, and will be more likely to seek a lasting friendship with that individual to keep a steady supply of sweets.

» Scorpion Bolts - Dragon scales are extremely difficult to pierce; a blunt weapon such as a sword, arrows and so on have little to no effect, and will bounce off of a dragons' scales. To combat dragons, the Scorpio kingdom created the Scorpion weapons. Scorpions are long-range artillery weapons that are powered by magic, resembling mounted large crossbows. A bolt fired from one carries enough velocity to pierce the skull of a dragon. It is fully pivotal and though it is best operated by a small team, it can be loaded and fired by a single soldier. A scorpion can be considered a smaller, more portable variation of a ballista. Scorpions are commonly-used siege weapons throughout the world of Lore, along with ballistae, catapults, and trebuchets.

Dragon Slayers used an advanced magitech version of the Scorpion, called a Mini Scorpion - which is essentially a magitech crossbow capable of manipulating air pressure. The use of Mini Scorpions to non-Slayer individuals was prohibited, but presently due to the Darkness's interference, magitech weapons and items no longer function.

» Dragon Slayers - Although the interference of corruption has made a Dragon Slayers' job harder without the use of magitech weapons, they continue to be a threat to Draconians. They're able to use regular magical weapons, like swords and bows, to get the job done. Dragonsbane swords are especially effective.

On Bonding

DRAGONRIDERS
A dragonrider is a person whose mount is a dragon. Dragonriders can commonly be found among the noble houses of the Gemini, with the Tamari royal family at their helm. All Rulers of Gemini and their Generals, including present day members, are dragonriders. Note that it is uncommon for a dragonrider to have a draconian, or a sentient dragon, partner.

A person may become a dragonrider at any age, much like horses and their riders; some when they are very young, some as teenagers, some not until adulthood.

Dragons are intelligent and proud creatures. They cannot be tamed or trained like their lesser wyvern cousins, and will often refuse to be ridden. To ride a dragon, a person has to bond with the dragon. This bond is a magical one initiated by the dragon itself once the beast trusts their would-be rider completely. Once the dragon and the rider have bonded, that dragon will not allow anyone else to mount it while its rider lives, no matter how familiar said person might be to the dragon. Dragons are, however, willing to accept another person or persons upon their backs when their own rider has mounted as well. At some point, it became custom among members of the Tamari family to ensure the bonding with dragons by placing unhatched dragon eggs in the cradles of their children - a practice that continues to this day.

When the rider of a dragon dies, that dragon can bond with a new rider. However, it is uncommon for a rider to bond with another dragon should theirs die. Throughout Lorian history, no dragonrider has ever flown two dragons.

Corruption

A Draconian can become corrupted if exposed to the Dark Lands for 10 days, without the light of a blue plant. Corrupted individuals notably avoid the Blue Plant areas, as it seems to cause them great pain.

Corrupted Dragons are rare but terrible and extremely dangerous creatures to encounter in the Dark Lands, ravaging everything in their path with violet flames. Corrupted Dragons are unable to take humanoid form, but retain high levels of intelligence and cunning. Corruption eats a Dragon from the inside out, rotting their flesh until all that will ultimately remain is bone, with the creatures' soul being encased in a black jar made of corruption that burns in suspended animation within its chest cavity - birthing a Dracolich.

The fate of all corrupted Dragons is to become a Dracolich, but the amount of time it takes to become a Dracolich varies between individuals. Unfortunately, Corrupted Dracolich's are extremely difficult to kill. It is said that they can be killed by destroying the jar of corruption and setting the Dragon's soul free, but doing so has never been successful. Thus, it is the duty of the Adventurer's Guild to find and imprison any Dracolich they find, by any means necessary, and why Draconians as a whole are generally banned from becoming Adventurer's.

Children

Draconians can have children with every species besides themselves except for ghouls and vampires. The child of a Draconian and another species will always be the species of one of the parents.

Dragons can't skip generations. Having a Draconian as an ancestor does not count. One or both parents MUST be a Draconian in order to be born a Draconian.

Draconians, unlike other species, do not give birth to live young and instead lay eggs.

Other Species Relations

Dragons are known to be a proud race and can sometimes border on narcissistic. They can pick apart other supernatural species by magical signature and smell. Draconians themselves are distinguishable from other species only by their magical signature. To those who cannot see magical signatures, they appear as genuine humans.
