Angelkin
An Angel is a divine humanoid celestial creature with feathered wings and a natural affinity for white magic, that has been blessed by the Mother of Light. Angels have three subspecies: Seraphim, Sanobim and Cherubim.
An angel can be born from other Angels or created by the Mother of Light.
Angels
Angels are known for their extraordinary beauty and equally beautiful voices, for their innate gift for magic and for their compassion towards all creatures. They are an effeminate race, customarily seen with long flowing, light colored hair and bright eyes. Angels are lithe, tall and slight. They are seen as graceful and powerful beings, and serve as adept warriors when need be, but prefer to keep the peace.
The signatures of an angel are their large feathered wings, which can vary in color but are commonly white, and a golden halo floating above their heads. An angel can choose to hide their wings and their halo through magic if they wish.
Angels are generally healthy creatures with a small level of rapid healing abilities - they don't heal as fast or as easily as other creatures, such as Werebeasts, but they can still heal wounds or injuries with a short recovery period. They do not suffer from illnesses and diseases (not including mental disorders) like other species do, but can suffer from energy poisoning and certain toxins, such as Scorpio Venom. However, it should be noted that Fallen Angels can suffer from illness and disease.
Individuals that are exposed to large amounts of dark energy can become poisoned by it, and can suffer symptoms such as fever, fatigue, lethargy, temporary loss of vision, vomiting, shivering, hallucinations and temperature fluxes. This is called energy poisoning. Although energy poisoning is rarely fatal, it can happen if the individual has been mortally wounded. Angels with higher amounts of angel blood recover more quickly.
An angel's mother language is the angel tongue, ENOCHIAN; all other languages are secondary.
Angels Blood
Angel's Blood is a rare, divine substance. It is either white (hybrids and down) or silver (50% angels and up). When in a container, it cannot be held by humans. Holding it too long many kill them. If a mortal dares to drink an angel's blood, the moment the fluid touches their lips, they are cursed to a miserable existence and eternal life.
The blood itself is rich in nutrients and brings forth life when it touches parched or dead earth. It has healing qualities greater than that of phoenix tears. When it is given by a willing angel, the blood will transform the heighten their astral levels, maximize their energy, and grant them temporary access to high-level Holy/white Magic.
Seraphim
The Seraphim are pureblooded, infallible angels that possess six wings and a glowing, golden halo. They are considered as "high-celestial"s, and always hold positions of importance. Seraphim are commonly Paladins for their divine Mother, serve as High Priests/esses in Her temples, a leader of one of the Houses and so on.
All of the Seraphim are trained for battle from an early age. To retain the pure bloodline within their families, it is uncommon for them to take a non-seraphim mate.
The Seraphim are ivory skinned, bright-eyed (amber, green or blue eyes) and light-haired (either white or blonde). They seem to emit a glow and their very presence is as warm as a summer day.
Sanobim - Celestial
Sanobim are children of the Seraphim with other species aside from other Seraphim, making their angelic blood percentage 99-81%. The Sanobim are commonly called Archangels.
Archangels usually have four wings (but can have only two) and sport a golden halo. Their primary colors are white, gold, light blue, bright shades of gray and brighter shades of yellow. The primary difference between the Sanobim and the Seraphim is that the Sanobim are not pure-bloods and thus, are not infallible.
Cherubim - Half-Celestial
The Cherubim, referred to as the "regular angels", are the children of the Sanobim. Cherubims only have one pair of wings. Their angelic blood percentage is between 80% - 5% that would continue to dwindle in their offspring the more that they crossbred.
These angels rarely have halo's despite being blessed. They have slightly smaller wings than Archangels and their colorations are slightly darker. Their primary color is white.
While all angels will have the abilities listed below, the strength and potency of the abilities depends on the individual’s angelic blood percentage as well as the House that their Coven falls under. Members of certain Houses may acquire more attributes than others. Note that all of the abilities for angels are based on the four cardinal virtues and the three theological virtues. The abilities are strengthened depending upon the House the individual is part of.
Cardinal Abilities
Prudence – A natural mental buff gained from meditation. The longer the meditation, the stronger the buff given; even numbered times grant a x3 amplifier while odd numbered times grant an amplifier of x2. Prudence guards the angels’ mind from malicious forces. For example, if an evil aligned individual attempted to read the mind of an angel with Prudence active, they would be unable to access the angels’ mind. The ability also grants the angel with a greater ability to focus.
Angelis Vitari – Means "angel vision". All angels, regardless of rank, see the emotions of others as colors. Lying to them is almost impossible, being as they can see it both in the alteration of the hue of the mood and the flicker of their aura. Angels can see auras as well like all of the creatures of Lore can see the energies. [Aura's are the defining color of an individual's alignment. Refer to this topic for more information on the colors.] Angels can always tell truth from lies, but it can be countered by the demon ability Heresy.
The success of Heresy depends both on the percentage of angel blood of the individual and also upon the class of the demon using it. Lower class demons can only bluff angels whose angelic blood is 20% or lower. Middle class demons can only bluff angels whose angelic blood is 50% or lower. High class demons can only bluff angels whose angelic blood is 70% or lower. Angelis Vitari is the Cardinal Ability for Justice.
Temperance – An ability that allows angels to pass between the astral and physical planes completely without leaving their body in one plane while the soul moves about. It also grants them the ability to phase between various other realms such as the Realm of Light and so forth, but only if the individual has knowledge of them and the percentage of their angelic blood, in addition to being able to cross/collapse two realms over each other in a completely different plane (for example, it could be used in combat, which is… Rare, since most angels don’t know that they can do this; an Imperial Angel crossed two dimensions over there opponents heart). Certain realms require higher percentages for a successful phasing while others may be blocked completely. The Negaverse and the Realm of Eternal Night are two of the realms that angels cannot enter regardless of the percentage of angelic blood. For Temperance to be used, the individual must have peace of mind and self-control.
Fortitude – A defensive buff that strengthens both physical and magical defense. Wards are 10% stronger for every 5% of angelic blood. Fortitude can also be channeled to certain portions of the body and can even be manifested as a shield for a set duration of time.
Tarsus Abilities
Light Speed – Allows for movement, be it aerial or grounded, at the speed of light. The more the angel wishes for it, the more speed they are able to reach. This ability does not have a time limit and can be used wherever and whenever. This ability represents the theological virtue of Hope.
The Ten Wedges – An ability that involves ten strikes, or ‘wedges’, that has the power to pierce and decimate evil. The Ten Wedges ability upgrades the angel’s chosen weapon to a lower, middle, or higher tiered Holy Artifact depending on their angelic blood percentage. The higher tiered the weapon, the more potent the attack becomes. All strikes but for the ninth and tenth can be dodged; meaning the opponent has eight attempts to escape the attack. If the eighth attack connects, the ninth and tenth strikes inflicts the most damage, buffed both by the holy weapon and by light energy. If the attack is not blocked, the end result could very well be fatal. Should the eighth attack be dodged, the ninth and tenth move sets will miss, as they are a direct follow up of it. An angel who has 75% or lower blood cannot pull off a fatal combo even if all of the wedges strike. This is an angel’s strongest and only offensive ability, representing the theological virtue of Faith… A powerful weapon indeed.
Salura Seal – A regenerative ability that allows angels to gain strength and heal their wounds in the light. It must be a pure light source, i.e. sunlight or another outside light energy not given off by manmade means. In a continuous light source, angels will have boundless energy. However, Imperial Angels create their own light source, and thus, will always have the Salura Seal ability active. This ability represents the theological virtue of Love.
Angels are susceptible to dark magic and darkness, but normally dominate over demons. They can only be magically wounded. Physical attacks to angels have little to no affect, especially if that angel has reached their full physical and magical potential (called angelic max).
All angels with the exception of Seraphims can be led to temptation by darkness and taken away from their Mother's light. Angelkin abilities, appearance and magical preference is largely based on the deity that blesses them. Angelkin who have been blessed by another deity are considered a different species. Angelkin who do not have the blessing of a deity are fallen.
Angels grow at the same rate as humans, but psychologically mature at the same rate as demons. All species of Angelkin are long-lived, considered to be immortal by most. However, they are not unkillable.
An angel is considered an adult at 20 years. Once they reach 50 years old, they have full control over their magic and are considered a fully capable angel. Once they reach 1,000 years old they are considered "old" in Angelic terms and are referred to as Elders. Very few vampires live to see it, but once they are over 2,000 years old they have lived to see two millenniums and are treated with reverence and respect.
Angels can have children with every sentient species except for ghouls, vampires and other undead creatures. Their offspring have a 50% chance of being an angel or the other species. However, hybrid species of angels do exist.
If an angel has a child with a human, a High Elf is born. Some of the elves born from an angelic union will have wings like their angel parent.
If an angel has a child with a High Elf, a Soothsayer is born.
The union of a demon and an angel will produce a Nephilim. Nephilims rarely have halo's.
Angels can detect the species of others through aura sensing. By themselves, angels do not make enemies often and usually have good relationships with all other species. However, they are detested and hunted by demons and in some cases, vampires.
Angels organize themselves into groups known as Houses or Covens that fall under one of the Seven Houses of Virtue (called L’leusilenza Esti in Enochian). Each house is led by a group of Seraphim.
Restraint is the keystone of the seven virtues. The other virtues are created through selfless pursuits, which in turn, grants the angel with more power and more resistance to negative influences - thus making it more difficult for that individual to fall. They are as follows:
House of Castitas – Chastity
Angels with a Pursuit of Knowledge, whose power comes from their virginity. Being a member of such a clan would grant its members the ability to refrain from being distracted and influenced by hostility, temptation or corruption. The House of Castitas’s corresponding sin falls into the House of Luxuria (Lust).House of Temperantia - Temperance
Pursuit of Will and Charity. Grants resistance to sins of gluttony. These angels are on the pursuit of charity. The House of Temperantia’s corresponding sin falls into the House of Gula (Gluttony).House of Caritas – Charity
Pursuit of Ethics. Grants resistance to sins of greed. The House of Carita’s corresponding sin falls into the House of Avaritia (Greed).House of Industria – Diligence
Pursuit of Peace. Physical prowess set. Grants resistance to sloth. The House of Industria’s corresponding sin falls into the House of Acedia (Sloth).House of Patientia – Patience
Pursuit of Love. Regeneration from physical attacks, focus buff. Grants resistance to suffering, hostility, and antagonism. The House of Patientia‘s corresponding sin falls into the House of Ira (Wrath).House of Humanitas – Kindness
Pursuit of kindness and compassion. Regeneration from magical attacks and increased magical potency. While angels that fall under this House have an unselfish love and voluntary kindness without bias or spite, young angels in this house are prone to being easily taken advantage of. The House of Humanitas’s corresponding sin falls into the House of Invidia (Envy).House of Humilitas – Humility
Pursuit of humility. Grants the resistance from despair and the ability to confront fear and uncertainty, or intimidation. The House of Humilitas’s corresponding sin falls into the House of Superbia (Pride).
There are four sub-species of Angelkin: Fallen Angels, Angels of Darkness (AoD), Shadow Angels and Morder.
AoD, Shadow Angels and Morder are all blessed by different deities. For an angel to be blessed by a deity other than the Mother of Light, they must first become a Fallen Angel. Only Fallen Angels can ascend to another sub-species of angelkin, and be blessed by a different entity.
Fallen Angels
OVERVIEW
Fallen Angels are waywards celestials that have been corrupted by the evils of the world, and do not have the blessing of a deity. A Fallen Angel can only be created when an Archangel or regular Angel commits the seven deadly sins of their own free will, falling out of the grace of the Mother of Light. There is no other way to create a Fallen Angel.
PHYSIOLOGY
Fallen Angels have dark colorations and either dull colored or dark colored eyes. An important factor to their color is what they did to be pronounced fallen. The larger the sin, the darker the color. Hair color is often the first to change; even if they ascend into the Mother of Light's grace again, their lighter hair color will never return. Any sin committed can stain and angels' wings. Fully black wings indicate they have broken all of the seven deadly sins. If they ascend once more, the dark stain is removed.
Fallen angels are omnivores once completely fallen from grace. Unlike other angels, they have gray blood. Any individual that uses the blood of a Fallen Angel will witness disgusting, contorted results.
ABILITIES
As an angel sins, that sin locks the holy abilities bestowed upon them by the Mother of Light away. Any angel who has committed the seven deadly sins will only retain the Angelis Vitari, although personal special abilities will vary between individuals.
WEAKNESSES
Fallen Angels are vulnerable and easily tempted towards sin. The unfortunate few that remain fallen for more than ten years are prone to insanity. These angels are also susceptible to illness and disease.
ON OTHER SPECIES
Thanks to being able to retain their Angelis Vitari, fallen angels are able to see the auras of different species.
Angels of Darkness
OVERVIEW
The Angels of Darkness (AoD) were formally fallen angels that were risen and blessed by the Mother of Light's mirror from another dimension, Vecna. Once risen as an AoD, these angels are infallible. They can be born from another Angel of Darkness or risen from a Fallen Angel by Vecna.
The AoD have been known by many names since their introduction to Lore, including dark angel, rift angel, twisted angel, angels of sin and finally, Angels of Darkness.
PHYSIOLOGY
AoD have light and warm colorations. Their hair color can be blonde, white, dirty blonde, light chestnut or auburn. Their eye colors can be silver, topaz, a deep or bright emerald, or bronze. Each AoD is tall and well-built with large wings, which are primarily white and on rare occasions red, and a crimson halo. Angels of Darkness can have six wings, but commonly only have two.
All of the Angels of Darkness have blue blood similar to the Morder. The more sinful they are, the lighter the hue. The purer they are, the darker the hue. The lightest hue is that of cyan and the darkest is a navy blue.
AGE & DEVELOPMENT
The AoD are as long lived as regular angels, considered immortal until killed. However, Angels of Darkness carry one trait that no other angelic species has: All of the AoD are *infallible - they cannot be purified and they cannot fall from grace. They age the same as regular angels and will produce the same offspring, only with a twist.
ABILITIES
Light Abilities
Speed of Light - A standard ability also called 'light speed'. The angel is able to both fly and run at the speed of light, just like their Messiah, Lego.
Light Beam - The angel is able to channel their energy as beams of light from any part of their body. The range and width of the beam depends on the circumstance. Sun light strengthens it while moonlight weakens it. This ability is the ability of PRIDE; pride as an angel.
Revitalization - Sleep is a natural recharge for the humanoid body. For dark angels, however, it's a bit different. The more the angel rests, the more energy their bodies create. For this reason, angels normally sleep twelve or over twelve hours per day. This is the ability representing SLOTH.
Gorge - This ability represents GLUTTONY. Dark Angels feed off of negative energy and darkness energy. When combined with Ira's Idol, the angel has a 50/50 chance to become infallible for a set period of time, normally spanning only 30 minutes while its still raw.
Dark Abilities
Blind - Using the essence of Darkness, Dark Angels are able to shroud the vision of their enemies. The longer the target is blinded, the more the Darkness will corrupt them. It can be countered with dis-spelling and higher-leveled mending white magic. This ability represents GREED.
Siren's Song - When active, their voice becomes melodic and alluring like that of a siren. But it isn't limited to one sex. It can influence an individual with a weaker willpower. Angels of Darkness use this ability to manipulate their targets as they see fit. It can be broken by the melody being sung backwards... But not many know this. This ability is the ability of LUST.
Ira's Idol - Inordinate and uncontrolled feelings of hatred and anger magnifies the ability known as Ira's Idol, for the more their hate festers, the more that negative energy empowers their bodies and powers. This ability represents WRATH.
Covet - This ability represents ENVY. Covet grants the angel the ability to shift into another person or creature and is similar to Lady Thora's Mimic. It, however, is not perfect and its power is not unlimited; meaning the angel will not be able to imagine a form and be able to make it like Lady Thora can. In order to work, the angel has to see the creature first. Then they need a reason to be envious of the creature in question. Only with those two conditions can Covet be successful.
WEAKNESSES
Angels of Darkness do not have species specific weaknesses, but common traits among them like pride and narcissism, can be used to one's advantage.
ON OTHER SPECIES
The AoD tend to look down on other species just as the demons do. However, the species that they were accustomed to in their dimension are not the same as this one's. They are easily surprised by other creatures, and have grown to learn both aura and magical signatures' of the species in this dimension.
MÖRDER
OVERVIEW
The Mörder were formally fallen angels that were risen/blessed by the god, Wolfsbane to be the divine enforcers for the Cult of Bane. All Morder are corrupted individuals.
Morders can be born from other Morders or blessed as a fallen angel by Wolfsbane.
PHYSIOLOGY
Morder have the same appearance as Fallen angels and Shadow Angels, and are often mistaken as such because their halo is not always visible. When it is visible, a Morder's halo is a deep purple. Their complexions are pale, often with dark hair, red eyes and black wings, though there are a few individuals who have retained lighter colored hair and their original eye color.
The wings of a Morder possess incredible rapid regeneration. A morder will often pluck one or more feathers at a time to use for their feather manipulation ability. Thanks to rapid regeneration, new feathers almost immediately replace the one(s) they just used. But unlike other angels, a Morder's feathers need to be plucked and regularly maintained to keep them in good shape.
They are omnivorous, but can survive off of one or the other if they so choose. But unlike the other omnivorous angelkin, a Morder's blood is a deep blue. It has a pleasant taste, but doesn't seem to have any special properties when used by another individual with or without the Morder's permission. Thus, a Morder's blood cannot create miracles.
AGE & DEVELOPMENT
Mörder age the same as other angels and produce the same offspring. The only difference comes from their powers and culture. All angelkin are immortal until killed.
However, it should be noted that the Morder are the only breed of Angelkin that can be blessed by two deities at once. Presently only one such individual exists - the Shadow Morder, Akasha Bloodmare.
ABILITIES
Feather Manipulation - The Mörder are able to manipulate their wings and give them temporary sentience, becoming a living weapon. When plucked, the Mörder can manipulate the feather to be any inanimate object they can think of, complete with special traits that can change at any time. However, any elemental affinity will not change.
Timeshift - This ability creates a portal, or portals (up to two), that the Mörder can use to teleport through. These portals can open anywhere, including the body if another being. They can be combined, collapsed, or expanded. This is similar to Century Takiro's portal affinity.
*Dread Speed - *These angels do not have the speed of light, but instead something akin to dark speed. Light always believes it to be faster, yet it will always find that darkness is already there, waiting for it. They may seem to teleport from one place to another through this ability when in reality, they simply fly at blinding speeds.
Elemental Mastery - Mörder are able to use all of the elements of nature like the Seelie, though only to a certain degree. ArchMörder (who were likely archangels before they were fallen) do not have such limitations.
Dreadbeam - A combination of charged particles composed of chaotic and dark energies. These beams can be fired from the eyes, mouth, and hands. It's especially effective on good aligned creatures, but can also cause a great deal of damage to fiends and chaotic species as well. Other Mörder absorb this energy.
Feast - The ability to feed from dark and chaotic energies.
Rejuvenation - When one of these angels are wounded, all it takes is a bit of blood to heal them. Someone else's blood, of course. Mörder can bend the fluid towards them to use it as an elixir. Bigger wounds require more blood. Terror Bomb - An offensive ability that allows the Mörder to take all of the negative emotions within the area around them and concentrate it into one spot, then fire it. If there isn't a source for such emotions, the ability has nothing to draw from, and thus cannot be used.
WEAKNESSES
As a species, the Morder do not have any natural weaknesses. Their weaknesses are individual ones. However, it was recently discovered that the morder are susceptible to chaotic magic, but the affects vary between individuals.
ON OTHER SPECIES
Like all angels, Mörders can tell apart other species by their aura. They see emotions in different colors, with negative emotions being cold colors and positive emotions being warm colors.
SHADOW ANGELS
OVERVIEW
Shadow Angels were formally fallen angels that were risen/blessed by the Mother of Darkness. All Shadow Angels possess a black fire halo.
Shadow Angels can be born from other Shadow Angels or blessed as a fallen angel by the Mother of Darkness.
PHYSIOLOGY
Shadow Angels have dark hair and either dark or deep hued eye colors. Their skin tone is either pale or as dark as the shadows they command. All Shadow Angels have a black fire halo, but can hide it and/or their wings at will.
Unlike other angels, Shadow Angels can feed in a multitude of ways. They are omnivores, but can also feed from negative emotions like demons can. Their numbers consist of Archangels and regular angels. A Shadow Angel will never be a Seraphim, but an Arch Shadow Angel is considered to be on the same level as a Seraphim.
They age at the same rate as other angels, and stop physically aging after 26.
ABILITIES
Devouring Lion -Enables the Shadow Angel to feed from folly, injustice, intemperance, apostasy, despair, cowardice, and presumption; by corrupting others, they empower themselves by x2 for each of those things. This ability creates an astral link from tormentor to tormentee to enable continuous feeding even if the angel isn’t nearby.
Shadow Link -Enables the Shadow Angel to travel at darkspeed as well as through shadows. They can break their bodies down into shadows and reform it the same way. Shadow Link also allows these angels to tear open Darkling spawning pits. The more they sin, the more powerful Darklings they can summon.
Shadow Control -Allows Shadow Angels to possess people through their shadows. While possessing the person, they can corrupt them mentally and spiritually; their powers, however, are halved while overshadowing someone. This can be resisted by stronger willed and/or light-aligned individuals. Children are incapable of resisting possession. They can be exorcised by Divinist Priest/essess.
Wrath of Shago -An offensive ability that allows the Shadow Angel to manifest their energy, and the corruption they’ve gathered, and converge them into a single point. The result is a massive dark bomb that, when launched, creates a devastating explosion that corrupts the environment in which it lands – as well as the wild life and its chosen target(s). These effects may be akin to those of radiation.
Sale Aratoth - DM for ‘Dark Revenge’. When a Shadow Angel is pushed to the edge, their body pushes out all of their energy into a gigantic explosion that eats up all of their energy – destroying their physical bodies. This explosion, rather than pushing things away, pulls them in like a magnet as the angel’s final attempt to destroy whatever had pushed them to this edge to begin with. Their soul retreats to the shadows (or to Shago herself), where it collects energy and rebuilds the body – leaving them in a weakened state until they feed from more corruption. Shadow Angels are the only species of Angelkin that can rebuild their physical bodies.
WEAKNESSES
Shadow Angels, despite popular belief, are not weak to light magic. Chaotic magic is an annoyance, but it's time magic that is their bane.
ON OTHER SPECIES
Like all angels, Shadow Angels can tell apart other species by their aura. They see emotions in different colors that are sometimes faint to them and difficult to identify, with negative emotions being cold colors and positive emotions being warm colors.
