Vampire
A Vampire is an undead, immortal creature that survives off the blood of their victims. A Vampire cannot be born; they remain frozen at the moment of their death and go through eternity as the living dead. A Vampire can only be created by biting, killing, and turning a Human.
Vampires are very attractive and beautiful creatures, as the transformation of becoming a vampire refines and perfects their physical features; this makes vampires more efficient predators, as it allows them to attract and seduce their victims.
A vampire's body is frozen in the exact moment of their death. Their skin pales some. Their hair and nails remain exactly the way they were at death and return to that state every 24 hours. Their internal body goes cold and turns to stone under the skin, making a vampire cold to the touch and statuesque.
A vampire's upper canine teeth transform into fangs at will. They can retract to the size of a human canine or sharpen and elongate to form the fangs necessary to bite and pierce flesh. They are razor sharp and the point is equivalent of a 17-gauge needle.
They have rapid healing abilities; their bodies can naturally withstand more damage and normally fatal injuries can be healed by feeding.
A vampire's senses sharpen dramatically upon turning. They become unnaturally strong and can move faster than the human eye perceives at will.
A vampire's body operates on the borrowed blood they live from. They have no internal bodily functions but their external body can still be used as if they were still Human. Meaning, things like sex functions like normal without bodily fluids, and eating or drinking to keep up appearances is Player Choice.
A Vampire's magic is actually a curse that passes from person to person through the bloodstream via a transfusion. Once a Human's blood has been completely transfused with the curse, they become a Vampire.
The majority of a vampire's magic rests in their fangs. The fangs puncturing skin puts the human in a dazed stupor, to both keep them still and erase their memory of the feeding. The puncture marks from the fangs will rapidly heal within two days and the bites rarely scar. Most humans are none the wiser they've been fed on.
Daylight Magic
Vampires can use those with access to magic to create things that will allow them to walk in daylight. These items can be anything: daylight rings, a magic umbrella that prevents all light from hitting the vampire while holding it, a potion they ingest, a coat, a hat, a necklace, all other jewelry besides rings, etc.
As the Vampire does not naturally have access to such magic, the spell, item, talisman, potion, etc., must be replenished or the magic will wear off. How often this needs done is Player Choice.
A vampire, being dead, gains sustenance through one thing and one thing only: human blood. It gives their body and the magic sustaining it life.
How often a vampire must feed depends on the age and activity of the vampire. Generally a vampire will feel intense hunger after one week and begin to starve after two weeks. Three to four weeks will leave a vampire weak, malnourished, and ravenous. If the vampire is unable to feed on anything, they will starve to death before the five week mark.
Feeding on Humans
The vampire will feed by taking a human and piercing the flesh of the skin with their fangs, drawing blood. While they can do this at any location on the body, the best places are above an artery or vein, and the easiest access is the neck. They swallow the blood and pull more with their fangs until the vampire is sated and the human is released.
How the Human feels during a feeding depends on the Vampire. The Hypnosis ensures they remember very little about the event either way, but the feeding can be euphoric or terrifying for the victim. It's all in the intent and execution, and the older a vampire is the more experience they have.
Vampires are not perfect and can make mistakes. A sloppy feeding can result in a messy scar and an enraged and terrified human, which most vampires seek to avoid if they can help it. On the flip side, a careful vampire with a willing human can make the feeding a euphoric experience.
Feeding on Other Things
Vampires can feed on non-human creatures, but with varying degrees of success. They can feed on animals in emergencies, but animal blood can't sustain them the way human blood can. It only staves off the inevitable starvation. A Vampire cannot live on animal blood unless they can drink gallons of the stuff at a time.
Vampires can also feed on other supernatural species. Supernatural blood is more sustaining than animal blood, but still less sustaining than Human blood. It's less filling and wears off quickly, forcing a Vampire to drink more of it more often. The natural magic in the other species' bloodstream makes it hard for the Vampire to convert the blood to magic in the body.
There is one exception to this: drinking Unicorn blood is highly beneficial to a Vampire, both in providing a boost to the Vampire's natural abilities and in healing injuries. However, it is powerful and potent enough to almost be like a drug. Though it does not sustain them (as with all supernatural blood), a Unicorn's blood tastes so good and can be so addicting, it is possible for Vampires to starve to death by feeding exclusively on Unicorn blood.
A Vampire's Blood
Vampire blood is dangerous, both to other Vampires and to other Supernaturals. The Vampire blood conflicts with the Supernatural's innate magic and causes them to feel weak and ill. It acts as a slow-moving poison or a prolonged illness. Long exposure can be fatal, or a Vampire draining another Vampire.
Vampire blood in Human hands is almost like an addictive drug to the Human. The curse in the blood gives the Human a taste of euphoria, a promise of what could come if a Vampire was to drain them and feed their own blood back to the Human. Humans can become addicted to Vampire blood and the only cure to severe addicts is to turn them into Vampires.
Fire: A vampire's worst enemy happens to be fire. Vampires are incredibly flammable when it comes to heat, any heat; they burn incredibly easily, and the wounds are always slow to heal with or without heavy feeding. Fire happens to burn the most and be the most combustible. Setting a vampire ablaze is the best way to fatally wound a vampire.
Sunlight: All vampires have a weakness to sunlight. It doesn't set them ablaze; it's the heat from the sun's rays that does the damage, not the light itself. Still, any sunlight that touches a vampire acts like fire and burns them. A Vampire can only walk in sunlight using magic created by others; otherwise it must be dark before a Vampire can walk outside.
Slumber: Vampires are forced into slumber at dawn and rise at sunset. The slumber must be in a dark and protected hiding place away from accidental sunlight or fire exposure. A vampire can resist this slumber, since they don't really need to sleep, but considering they can't go out during the day most choose not to fight it. Those who choose to stay awake cannot leave their hiding place until the sun sets again.
Fangs: A vampire must possess their fangs to feed. The magic in them is what helps the borrowed blood give them life as they drink, regardless of what (or who) they drink from. Rip out a vampire's fangs and the vampire will slowly go insane and starve to death as the blood they drink no longer keeps them alive.
Exsanguination: Draining a vampire's body of their borrowed blood - whether from a vampire feeding on them or by other means - weakens them, starves them, and makes it much harder for the vampire to move. It's the only way to temporarily immobilize a vampire; they must seek a fresh blood supply before they can freely move again.
Thralls
Vampires who choose to feed from specific victims have the ability to create a connection known as a 'Thrall'. This allows the Vampire to call out to their chosen victim and summon them to wherever they are in order to feed.
The call is purely mental, and can be manifested in the victim's mind as actual words, a strong feeling, an uncontrollable desire, whatever way is most effective to summon the Thrall. The victim is irresistibly drawn to wherever the Vampire is located. A victim who is being called can turn violent if they are prevented from going to the source of that call.
Thralls are almost exclusively created from connections with Humans. Other Supernaturals can also become Thralls, but the connection is often weaker due to their own innate magic. There are species that are more desirable as Thralls than others, and Vampires will often seek them out if given a choice. The older the Vampire, the easier it is to create and maintain Thrall connections.
How this bond is created, maintained, or broken is Player Choice.
Because a vampire is frozen in the moment of their death, they are immortal creatures who do not age. A vampire can continue to exist for eternity, provided there is a source of healthy humans to feed from.
A vampire stops being considered a newborn after 50 years, regardless if they've broken their bond or not. Once they reach 150 years old, they have full control over their magic and are considered a fully capable vampire. Once they reach 500 years old they are considered "old" in vampire terms and are referred to as Elders. Very few vampires live to see it, but once they are over 1,000 years old they have lived to see a millennium and are treated with reverence and respect.
We allow Vampires up to 6,000 years old on FMRP.
A Vampire creator (called a Sire) has a connection to the newborn Vampires (called Progeny) they make. The sire has basic control over their progeny and their feeding urges, to keep them from drawing attention to themselves as they learn how to hunt and feed. They can also track their progeny within a certain distance and can read their strong emotions.
Once a vampire has become sufficiently strong enough or the sire dies, this connection is broken. The only thing that remains is the sire's ability to vaguely track their movements and know whether or not they're still alive.
The only way to create a Vampire is for an existing Vampire to bite a Human, drain them of their blood, and then share their blood with that human.
The turning process is extremely painful for the Human. The transformation starts immediately after the vampire's blood has been consumed. Some humans pass out and awake transformed, while others are awake for the entirety of the turning.
The process takes between two days to a week as the human's body dies and is transformed into that of a vampire. The more vampire's blood a human drinks, the easier the transformation is to endure. The last to transform is the vampire's fangs; once they have their fangs, the process is complete.
A newly born vampire will have to feed within the first 24 hours of their completed turning; most feed within the first few hours. From there, they will have to feed constantly to keep up with their appetite and get used to their changed bodies. The level of feeding necessary differs from vampire to vampire.
No other supernatural species can be turned into Vampires. The only creatures that can be turned into Vampires are Humans. Once a Human has been turned into a Vampire, there is no going back. The change is permanent.
Vampires are incapable of producing children, whether with others of their own kind or another species. The only 'children' a Vampire can make are the progeny they turn from Humans.
It's not uncommon for lonely Vampires craving that one lost aspect of existence to "adopt" families and name the mortals as their own. It's also not uncommon to steal children to raise as their own children.
A Vampire can tell other supernaturals apart by the smell of their blood. Each species, humans included, have unique scent signatures to their blood that only a vampire can smell. Individuals also have unique scent signatures that a vampire can use to tell them apart from others.
