Garbull's Rage
The terrible red dragon, Garbull, and his violent rampage across the Prosperous Mountains . Burning fields, devouring farmers along with their cattle, and plundering the wealth of the land until he was eventually stopped by the copper dragon Vandune.
Event
In the year 1966 a random wildfire raged in a small chunk of forest atop the Prosperous Mountains. As local fire responders attempted to control the burn they would come face to face with the one responsible for the fire. Strolling through the charred black remains of the forest while surrounded by a ring of roaring flames as the forest around him burned, a red dragon strode fourth. He killed nearly all the firefighters, all except one. As the fire raged on in the background and the last firefighter was left quivering on the ground the red dragon said "I am Garbull the Fiery Wake. I have spared you only so you can tell everyone what I have done, and warn them for what I am about to do."
Much like the flames that spewed forth from his mouth the name Garbull quickly spread across the land. What followed after the forest fire was a long bloody rampage across the mountains. Garbull would raid plantations and farms all over the mountains, plundering their possessions and killing their inhabitants. All while leaving behind a trail of fire and charred remains.
The path of Garbull's path would eventually lead to Timflim where he flew over and set whole market streets aflame with his fiery breath. When Garbull finally stepped foot in the burning town the guard had assembled its numbers to combat the terrible dragon. As the guards arrows broke up impact and their sword dulled with each futile strike, Garbull laughed at the miserable cries of Timflim's defenders as he slaughtered them. Before leaving Timflim to burn Garbull assailed the town's bank.
The damage caused by Garbull had reached a point where drastic measure had to be taken. The Lord of the Prosperous Mountains, Lord Brantblack, who had exhausted all other options had resolved himself to seek the aid of another. A copper dragon named Vandune. Vandune had made his presence known to the kingdom before, information gather suggests that he had been living in the mountains long before Bosh claimed it thus the kingdom thought it wise to leave him alone. Thus they had shared the mountain, keeping to their own corners of it without interacting with each other. Though it became clear that no one could challenge Garbull's sheer ferocity. No one except perhaps another dragon.
The plead was made and the call was answered, the adult copper dragon prepared a plan to end Garbull and his rampage in a clever trap. Using a brave group of guards who volunteer their aid, Vandune was able to draw Garbull out to a cliff edge with a fake treasure transport as a lure. Once Garbull was within range Vandune caused a rockslide to trigger which swepted Garbull off his claws and buried under a tide of earth.
Though as the air began to clear onlookers could clearly see the crimson body of Garbull emerge from the rockslide and hear his terrible roar. He began calling out to his surroundings, claiming to know someone had triggered the rockslide and ambushed him. When Garbull demanded to know "who is out there" Vandune only responded with "no one, stupid" as he pounced on to Garbull from his hiding spot.
The battle was fierce. Anyone who got to close was quickly killed by the clashing dragons as they pushed and shoved each other along the cliff side. It was during this battle that the constarts between the two dragons was revealed. While Vandune was older and did have the advantage after ambushing Garbull, he had underestimated his opponent. Vandune defeated his opponents with cunning trickery, but Garbull defeated his opponents with his overwhelming strength.
With every attack Vandune landed, Garbull would return one twice as lethal. Vandune's body would be covered in his own blood as the fight continued, near the end of the fight it had become two red dragons fighting each other. Garbull drove Vandune closer to the cliff's edge and in a finally act of desperation Vandune spewed his acid breath directly into Garbull's face. As he reeled back from the attack he delivered the finishing blow, using his sharp teeth Garbull bit into and tear out a chunk of Vandune's throat. He then threw the lifeless body of the copper dragon off the cliff's edge. Vandune's corpse kept falling until it reach the bottom of the mountain.
Though Garbull was victorious in the fight, Vandune did hurt him and wound him in a way he would not recover. The acid breath attack had robbed Garbull of his eyes leaving his permanently blind, not only that but the acid had dissolved all the skin on his face exposing the bone underneath. Earning Garbull the nickname "Skullface".
Badly wounded after his fight with Vandune and with Bosh reinforcements arriving, Garbull realized how vulnerable he was and withdrew back to his lair to recover. Thus came an end to Garbull's Rage.
After the rampage a large number of dragonborn have moved into the Prosperous Mountains. All of which belong to the Giok-Clan. Their ambitions are to hunt down and kill the infamous Garbull. Bringing honor to the clan and ending a dangerous threat to the land. So far their attempts have been in vain. Not only because they can't find Garbull, but any time they do encounter him their combat ends in failure.
The whole ordeal was a costly one. None of the treasure Garbull stole was ever recovered. The property and lives lost in his rampage was very costly for the town of Timflim. Which caused a period of poor infrastructure that didn't improve until recently. Though even now Timflim is still paying for the damages, they can barely afford to have a proper military force patrolling the area outside of town.
Since the event of Garbull's Rage the Prosperous Mountains have recovered somewhat. Areas burned by Garbull's flames have healed since his rampage. The town of Timflim is back to its typical operations.
Garbull hasn't been seen since the year 2278. when he reportedly attacked a trade merchant's ship traveling the Fallen Banks River and made off with its treasure after killing the majority of its crew.
To honor his bright idea to call on the aid of Vandune to end Garbull's rampage, a statue of Lord BlackBrant was erected in the town square fifteen years after his death in the year 1951. The statue was later taken down by Lord Amburst in the year 2287 after his accomplishments were discredited.
