God Rebellion

Hundreds of years ago several Gods banded together and attempted to overthrow the entire order of the existing pantheon. These Gods were those who felt overshadowed by their counterparts [such as Darkness always being overshadowed by Light], or those whose portfolios often painted them out to be evil when they were just facets of life [such as Plague and Death].

The rebellion, however, was unsuccessful. Many of the involved Gods were then sealed away in various places so that they could live and continue to power their various portfolios and magics but not be able to attempt another coup that might be successful the next time...
