Miroria
Nation
One of the smallest nations in Erzara, it is a fiercely protected one. A matriarchal society revolving around witch magic, with other magics seen as barbaric or less than. Men, especially, feel the brunt of the country's ire. Men are primarily seen as immature and only useful for two things - manual labor and creating more daughters. Male witches are laughed out, and told they are simply chasing a dream birth did not give them.
As such, once they are past their prime and are deemed no longer useful to the coven, they are cast out into the Shadowlands. Some of these men have successfully made their way the neighboring Galena, with a few sparse refugee settlements dotting the border, but most die to the monsters that roam. Surprisingly, misandry is a less common, though not an unheard of problem and, as the Grand Coven has had older witches die off and younger witches take positions of power, a shift in viewpoint has started. They have started to call to turn away from some of the older and more dangerous magics and to begin opening their lands to their neighbors, and stop their barbaric practice of casting out men. A few covens have even started to embrace male witches, though they are generally looked down upon by the rest of the nation as both foolish and crazy. As the creatures encroach from the Shadowlands, though, the younger witches argue that, perhaps with allies, they can get help to their people. Some covens think this is the fall of witch kind and a few have pulled out of the Grand Coven, arguing that bringing outsiders into the country will only curse the land. For now, though, the country's border is open for travelers and adventurers alike. They must be warned, though, it's not just the monsters who want them dead.
