The Order

The Order of the First Storm is an organization few know about, and even fewer ever have actual contact with unless a cataclysm is at hand. In the last age they rose to power quickly, but it's clear from the fact that a cataclysm happened that at least that time they were unsuccessful in their mission.

For many, however, the Order is more sinister than that. Their secretive nature has led to speculation that they might actually be causing the cataclysms, for example. It doesn't help that in the records their leaders all take the same names; the Nightingale leads the whole operation, while the four lieutenants take the names Souva, Halcyon, Colibri, and Corvus, and this is a recurring theme any time the Order pops up in the history that we can find so those who are less informed (or perhaps more prone to believing in such conspiracies) think that the same individuals have found some way to unnaturally extend their lives and head up the organization each time it crops up instead of simply taking up the titles and mantles that are set forth within some rule book the organization has.

Either way, sadly nothing can be confirmed about them. It could well be that they stay underground and only draw attention to themselves when a cataclysm is at hand or they could be the cause of it. Anyone who knows for sure is either dead or not talking, making it impossible to tell one way or another what the Order's true motivations are.

They do have at least one base, the House of the Storm out in The Whispering Wastes, but it is extremely secluded. Few dare to cross the harsh desert for any reason, not the least of which is the likely event they will be turned away at the gates of the temple unless they have been invited by some member of the Order, and the dwarven royalty seems fairly content to simply leave them be for now.
