Lived with parents and older step-sister.
Her parents were renowned plague doctors, taking care of humans in the kingdom of Duskfell. They had a high reputation until the people of the town realized they were vampires. Valentine was forced to flee the kingdom with her step-sister after their parents were both burned at the stake. She was incredibly fond of her sister, to the point of being too overly dependent. They eventually parted ways, but Valentine found her calling through scene culture in the early 2000s, finally coming out of her shell to become the peppy life of the party we see today. This also began her dream of become a pop star.
Valentine's step-sister, October, is originally from the Mirror Dimension, and is Valentine's counterpart. Valentine's father thought that she was in desperate need of a playmate. After finding a way to connect with the Mirror Dimension, he crafted a special mirror that allowed Val to talk with her mirror counterpart, October. The two became extremely close. Eventually, it became clear that the Mirror Dimension was under threat of total chaos. Knowing that a young October was in danger, Valentine's father used his magic to bring October into this dimension. This began October's life as Valentine's "step-sister".
Valentine's family moved to the realm of humans due to the threat of the realm of vampires not accepting October after realizing she wasn't from this dimension (the creatures that do know of seperate dimensions have laws against counterparts living alongside eachother, because of a potential rift in space-time). Since early human technology and magic weren't advanced enough to detect this, they had a better chance of surviving there without being discovered. To Valentine's parents, being rejected by another species was a lesser punishment than being rejected by their own kindred.
Vampires seem to have an easier time communicating with the Mirror Dimension, due to the fact that they don't have any reflections obstructing their magic.
Learns to value independence instead of always depending on others. Strives to become a person others can rely on. Brings light to the flaws of the talent industry when training to become a pop star.
