-was born into a significantly wealthy Moldovan-Russian family
-father is a high-ranking member of the Moldovan government
-was incredibly close to his mother; the pair were virtually inseparable
-his mother committed suicide on christmas day, 6 days before his 6th birthday, and was the first person to find her dead body. he developed intense trauma as a result.
-struggled with his mental health and had felt out-of-place/closed off from his peers and Moldovan society for most of his life. this all culminated in his voluntary hospitalization when he was 15, where he was administered a feeding tube due to his anorexia.
-developed anorexia nervosa as a way to cope with his trauma, leading to said hospitalization.
-spent about 9 months in a psychiatric hospital before being released back into the custody of his father.
-his father became emotionally neglectful after the death of his(Eden's) mother; the two lack any sort of emotional connection that a father and son would normally have (barely converse with one another or spend time together, etc.). his father is often too occupied with his career to give Eden the love and attention that he needs, desires, and deserves.
-attended a well-known private school and was top of his class
-developed a close relationship with one of his male peers with whom he shares his first kiss. however, soon after, said male peer begins to ostracize him and his other peers follow suit after rumors of their relationship begin to circulate. his fellow classmates begin to harass and bully him over his sexuality, eventually triggering a downward spiral in which his mental and physical state significantly deteriorated. this lasted 6 months and led to his hospitalization.
-after being released from the hospital, he continued his education at home with several private tutors. he developed a special connection with his literature/history tutor who ends up becoming a father figure and his only close friend.
-at the age of 18, Eden legally changes his last name to his mother's maiden name, Pasternak.
- after studying art conservation at one of the top universities in Moldova and graduating early, Eden was offered an apprenticeship at an art restoration studio in the United Kingdom. he moves to Leeds, UK a couple weeks prior to the beginning of the story.
