Jíri Rakitin
Male
19
Sorcerer/Octavius’s Head Apprentice
None, refuses nicknames.
Human; Giselof group
Dark brown
Muscular and heavily built on the torso, but with a lean waist and narrow hips (inverted triangle body type).
Small scars and burns on his arms and hands from years of work in the forge, missing digit on his right pinkie finger from an earlier forge accident.
185 lbs
6’3”
Black, lightly bleached areas.
Shoulder length dreads, coiled very thinly. He ties them back in the forge, but the shorter ones towards his face fall out. Sometimes he’ll just tie back the front locks and leave the back down (Octavius will let this slide every now and then when the work in the forge is slow/ the fires aren’t too large).

ISFJ-A; Jíri is seemingly incredibly calm and collected, never letting himself get too worked up by anything. He has a happy demeanor and, although he is a quieter soul, will always seek thoughtful, positive conversations with those around him. He is defined by his altruism and optimistic world view.
He also has a very careful approach to life, never leaving any stone unturned or any crack unfilled. If he commits himself to an idea, he will see it through to the bitter end, and make sure it is done immaculately. These ideas are extremely diverse and frequent, as well; Jíri’s creative streak can challenge even the most artistic minds, and his imagination is often more active than his hands.
In his social life, Jíri is incredibly observant and loyal, always willing to be both a shoulder to lean on and a well of knowledgeable advice. His friends cherish his affection greatly, for he cherishes them equally as much. He forms very emotional, personal attachments to people he encounters often enough, to an extent not often seen.
-When he thinks he won’t be caught, he and Radokha Sadovnikova like to fuck around and pull pranks on Aspen or (if they’re brave enough) Octavius.
-Building little moving trinkets from the scrap metal in the forge.
-Ice skating on the town’s lake when the freeze hits (but before the blizzards begin). He’s not very good at it.
-Reading, especially poetry.
-He is a skilled forgeman, being Octavius Lithrek‘s top apprentice.
-He is a great athlete in general, although not trained in a specific sport, which gives him impressive stamina and physical strength.
-He can carve/whittle very well, and often does this with Stanislava Lithrek as a social activity after dinner.
-He can identify pretty much any stone by sight or description (no matter how poor). This comes from both his line of work and his observant nature.
Due to being raised in a partially nymphan society, he is weary of elves (nymphs and elves have a bitter history of disputes). He doesn't love extroverts either, mostly just because copious social energy drains him (he wouldn't admit it, but he is a little jealous of their ability to be so open with others about their emotions).
Jíri tends to repress his feelings quite a bit, being a somewhat private person. He doesn't let others in easily, instead opting to let them see him as a constantly jovial optimist. When someone does manage to slip in between the cracks of his mask, he can become defensive. This pent up emotion leads to a lot of anxiety on his part, and may result in outbursts under enough pressure.
He internalizes guilt a lot, as well, and when things go wrong he is the first person to blame himself.
To placate this, he tries to make sure that nothing ever goes wrong. He, of course, can't control everything, and this gives him even more anxiety and causes him to feel out of control of his own emotions occasionally.
None of this is detectable on the surface level, though, so it can be weeks after something happens that anyone will even suspect he is upset. He also doesn't want to be a burden to those around him, so asking for help is an absolute last resort in his mind, even if others are trying to give it willingly.
Jíri was born into a lower class family in the small arctic village of Vanskuya. His parents are both fishers on large fisher ships, but due to the nature of their work will be away for weeks at a time at sea. Jíri and his younger sister, Marja, had to start working from a young age in order to sustain themselves while their parents were away. While Marja took up a job at the local inn once she turned fourteen, Jíri became an apprentice at Octavius's forge when he was only eleven. Octavius and his wife, Stanislava, quickly became parental figures to his sister and him, and he soon found himself spending more time at their house than his own.
When he was fifteen, a poorly secured anvil in the forge toppled onto his right hand, crushing several bones and severing the top digit from his pinkie finger. This accident almost permanently ended his career in the forge, but Stanislava was able to convince a nymphan healer to at least ensure that his bones would heal properly using magic. There were, however, side effects from this; it didn't heal his pinkie finger, and he was forced into a debt by the healer, who can ask him now any one favor, no matter the circumstances. The residual magic from the healing, though, stayed with him, and he has since used it to further his abilities in sorceric forging.
June 24th, 657 PR (that year's summer solstice)
Only educated through Ocatvius's academy in sorceric forgery; his family couldn't afford to have him traditionally educated, though Stanislava has taught him to read decently advanced texts.
Umber, the forge cat
His sexual orientation is probably closest to bisexual, though he doesn’t have any romantic experience to go on for any gender.
Jíri will layer long tunics (number depends on the weather), often times cinching them at the waist with a thick belt. Loose trousers, foot-wrappings, and leather shoes complete this.
In the forge, Octavius makes all of his students and assistants wear reinforced leather aprons, elbow-length gloves, and a heavy leather cloth tied over their noses/mouths.
Jíri wears a knee-length tunic with the sleeves rolled up to just above his gloves and loose wool trousers that are wrapped tightly at the shins-to-feet (to supplement for socks, essentially).
In addition to this, he has to wear a cloth band to keep his hair from falling over his eyes/into flames.
In the snowy seasons (most of the year) Jíri wears a large, blue and grey wool/fur lined coat that reaches about to his mid-calf and fastens down the middle with bone clips. A belt secures it in the middle, acting as a carrier for his knife as well. Underneath this is a second woolen layer; a long (knee-length) tunic with a hood, which tops his under-most layer (a linen tunic of the same length).
With this he wears woolen trousers, wrapped tightly with a long cloth at the shins-to-feet for warmth under his hardened leather shoes (basically just sandals).
He accompanies these with a fur lined hat and wool mittens.
The non-snowy seasons see basically this same outfit, just without the coat, hat, mittens, and over-tunic.
-Sorceric Forgery: his career; this is a taught trade, not a gift from birth.
-Trace Nymph Magic: residue from the healing of his hand; since the Nymph who healed him were Water Nymphs, his abilities are all water-based.
Jíri is not very close to his parents, seeing as their jobs keep them away from home for most of the year. When they are home, they are jovial and polite towards each other, but their relationship is very strained and holding conversation can be complicated.
In many ways, Jíri sees Stanislava Lithrek and Octavius Lithrek as more of parents than his own, and this strains that relationship further; while Jíri's parents are glad that he has someone looking after him and are extremely grateful for them, there is a little jealousy (and justly so).
Jíri and Marja are extremely close, and in many ways just have a very normal sibling relationship; they tease each other constantly but care deeply for one another and hate to see the other suffering.

Jíri doesn't have any real experience in romance (he's never even held a hand before), but he gets crushes occasionally. When this happens, he doesn't just crush; he basically falls in love, which has it's perks and down-sides.
Sasha-
He has none.
To assist the head forger (Octavius) in both constructing and sorcerically enhancing weaponry. He is also given the task of constructing commissioned pieces when Octavius is especially busy (and with the commissioner's permission).
None/ not important to the story.
Due to the communal nature of his small village, he doesn’t see very much of the outside world’s politics. He believes in following the laws that his village puts in place and keeping the peace, and basically just tries to avoid conflict when he can.
Head Forge Apprentice
All; he makes weapons so it’s hard to choose, and on top of that he’s a little bit of a weapons nerd.
He likes foxes; arctic breeds are common in the northern regions, and he just thinks they’re pretty cute.
