Shay's power-hungry parents made a deal with a demon (that people don't know to exist yet) to make their son stronger. They took Shay away to Rosecoast, an abandoned and hidden country. The demon possessed Shay and lives inside him. Parents would tell Shay who was his enemies and what he was supposed to do. As Shay started to get older, he got a mind of his own and no longer would listen to his parents. He killed his father and imprisoned his mother in the dungeon and came up with a plan. When he was thirteen he made a plan with the corrupt and possessed leader of Ecra, Addilyn Johnson, on how to wipe out the population little by little.
