Lycus is flamboyant with a dark sense of humor. He can often present two completely different sides of himself. One, confident, fun-loving, and funny, the other traumatized, addicted, and fearful.
He is incredibly kind-hearted but often doesn't know how to help.

Lycus Ajax Locosta is the first and only child born of Desdemona Hale and Lyas Locosta II. He was born out of wedlock after a passionate but brief affair between his parents. Shortly after Lycus' birth, Lyas expressed that he no longer wanted a romantic relationship with Desdemona, but still wanted to raise Lycus together. Desdemona was devastated and furious, and abandoned Lycus and Lyas to live in Paris. Lyas traveled often for his work, and brought Lycus with him, raising him as a single parent across the globe.
Though Lycus was not part of his father's plan originally, Lyas loved his son ferociously, and sought to better the world by raising a good child, like so many other parents. Though the men of the Locosta line are cursed with lycanthropy, Lyas believed that Lycus could learn to control himself while he was in wolf form, just as Lyas had learned. Lyas gave his son the name 'Lycus Ajax', meaning "wolf warrior", as he believed that he and Lycus would together defeat the stigma and persecution surrounding werewolves due to their control over their transformations. Lyas believed that, with the right tools and training, lycanthropes could control when and how they transformed, including during a new moon, and could keep their mind while in wolf form.
In 1946, the pair arrived on Elliott Island for the American Fair of Magick. There, Lyas met a witch named Johanna Marrow. Lyas and Johanna fell in love, and were married in 1947. Johanna was an excellent mother to Lycus, though she did describe him as "rather fussy", unaware that fussiness was a common trait in lycan children. Johanna became pregnant with twins in 1948, and Lyas finally confessed to Johanna that he and Lycus were lycanthropes, and that if they had any sons, they would be werewolves too. Though Johanna was initially horrified, Lyas was able to reassure her with all the research he had done as well as his control over his own form.
On December 22, 1949, the twins were born: a girl, Lyra, and a boy, Lysander. The family was overcome with joy at the arrival of the twins, and loved them intensely, thought it was not to last. On March 1st, 1950, Lyas fell victim to the Marrow Family Curse, and was killed while undergoing a forced transformation into wolf form. He was found near the Caill River, with half his face in wolf form, and half unchanged. Johanna was devastated by the loss of her husband, and began behaving erratically, often snapping at the children, or wandering around in the middle of the night.
On March 29th, nearly a month after Lyas' death, Lycus underwent his first transformation alone, wandering in the woods all night. He awoke barely clothed, and was soon discovered by witch officials, who informed him that his mother an brother were dead. The events of this day traumatized him, and he did not speak for several months afterword. He and his sister Lyra, now six years old and three months old respectively, were sent to live with their relatives on the Owen Family Homestead.
