Thomas had a bad case of depression. When he was seven years old, his father became an addict. He was already an abusive man, but when he came home drunk at night, he would terrorize Thomas and his older brother. When Thomas was ten, his father was arrested for gun violence, but Thomas’s brother, fifteen at the time, had begun to follow in his footsteps. He was arrested for shoplifting, and spent the night in jail, leaving Thomas alone with his depressed mother, who paid him no heed. When his brother was released, he spent most of the day out of the house, and Thomas was forced to fend for himself. Finally, two years later, Thomas’s brother was arrested for drug possession, and given a twenty-year sentence. The next few years were someone peaceful for Thomas, until he turned fifteen, where he fell into his depression. No one gave him the attention he needed, and a result of this neglect resulted with Thomas beginning to cut himself. A few weeks later, on his sixteenth birthday, his mother died from an unexpected stroke. Thomas was placed in foster care a year ago, and has since lived with a rich family, which has done everything they can to keep him happy, completely unaware of his depression.
