Nathan Ewan MacCavoy
22
Nathan acts as one of the main divergent members in the story and a useful character for plot twists (turns out to be him instead of the person he possessed) + stealthy arcs and scenes.
Project Séance
Revenant
Xa-56
Ghost boy
Nat
Male
no noticeable facial hair.
Ghost - None
Silhouette - The misty, foggy greyish- blue
Before he died - stormy grey
Half-Scottish. (Born in Edinburgh)
(Mother is from Glasgow, Father was from Manchester, England.)
As a ghost - doesn't have one
silhouette form - a pale, ghostly blue almost mist/fog like (he's still somewhat transparent)
Before he died- Pale, fair (porcelain)
Nathan does not have a physical body as he is a ghost but when exposed to rays from filtered moonlight or from certain waves of the electromagnetic spectrum, his silhouette can be seen. If these rays are focused, you can see facial features etc.
His silhouette is lightly-muscled. The kind of physique you'd get from those who do excessive manual labour. He's a young man, agile-looking with muscled shoulders, abdomen and arms. Looks like a middle-distance runner.
Nathan does not have a physical body as it is theorised it was destroyed in the Facility. However, before he died; noticeable marks included a birthmark on his left wrist and faint freckles on his boyish face.
Now, there is only an inverted coloured barcode on his left wrist as a tag. It is also rumoured that if you catch him perfectly in a ray of light, you can see the silhouette of his apparition like body and the knife-like wound just below his heart. For the most part, though, Nathan is invisible to the human eye.
He does not weigh anything as there is no matter or physical body to weigh.
We can only estimate using his silhouette but it's around 5'4 - 5'7.
As Nathan is a ghost, he has no need for clothes but his preferences are loose comfy clothing. For example, tracksuits, jackets, t-shirts and jeans. He doesn't really care for fashion or trends.
silhouette- Foggy, misty blue-grey (transparent really)
Before death - light golden brown hair.
His hair is quite unstyled and untamed as he doesn't really care for his appearance as:
- No one can see him
- He can't style it anyway.
His hair is naturally parted and moderately long. You could think of it as a comb-over but if that were "overgrown" and untended to.
Nathan is a rather easy-going person who isn't quick to judge (as he observes people so often and none can judge him.) However, he can be a little anxious or judgemental towards those of extreme spectrums eg: extremists in religion, extremists in politics, etc. He doesn't like people who overpower everyone else's opinion with their own. However, we could see this almost like a positive prejudice since the vast majority of the population is not in favour of extremism.
The most obvious one is him being dead.
However, another condition he suffers from even in his apparition form are phantom "heart burns". This is because his subconscious randomly imitates this pain in an almost echo of his physical self. He does not have a heart or any organs but yet this occurs. This condition has been labeled by Rachel Diane Simmons as The Corimpetenueal Reflux
Though Nathan cannot talk or communicate with people physically, we still somehow see his personality through the way he interacts with the environment and the people within it. (He is almost like a poltergeist and can move things around, interface with lights etc...)
He is also socially awkward which is understandable as he rarely interacts with people and vice versa. So when he does have to, he can be quite shy or indecisive during a conversation. HOWEVER, since he spends most of his time spectating life, he is a FABULOUS listener and you'll never find yourself feeling ignored or undermined in a conversation with him.
- Mischievious
(He likes to play harmless tricks on his friends since he is invisible and can move things around. He can also be a bit more on the chaotic side when it comes to those he sees as a threat and can make them almost paranoid with his meddling in their lives. He pretty much does the things we would do if we had the chance to turn invisible) - Considerate
He cares about the people he has grown with and trusts alongside being considerate with what they want. He has a habit of spying on people but only when his considerate side causes him to worry. It usually doesn't go down well with those he is spectating and has been penalized several times. His consideration does breed a form of empathy in him, therefore he really isn't as cynical and blunt as his allies. However, if he truly believes someone is a "bad egg". He makes exceptions with his empathy. He is a "superhero" after all. - Lonely
Sometimes he feels lonely which is extremely understandable. He lives in a world where no one can see nor hear him and can only be aware of his existence via his interference with physical objects.
Other personality traits include:
Caring, mysterious (because he's invisible), imaginative (finding ways to communicate without the senses of hearing and sight), easy-going and finally adventurous + boisterous. - Resilient
The process of being turned into a ghost most certainly has a toll on both Nathan's mental and physical health. When he was first resurrected and gained the beginning signs of coherence, the first thing he felt was overwhelming pain. He described the first few weeks as an almost trance state. The kinda daydream would feel like. After further experimentations, Nathan's spirit began to be more anchored in reality and he gained more feeling and memory. He remembers how he died and his family alongside being able to have
There are not many hobbies which you can have as a ghost but one of his favourites is playing the piano. Though he isn't a master at it, he can be seen as quite impressive at it.
He enjoys spying and exploring since no physical barrier can stop him plus, he's invisible.
This leads onto him being a good researcher and investigator since he can get into places which living people can not.
Watching horror and action films.
Piano playing
Researching
His ghost enabled abilities Eg: Possessing the living/ deceased, Intangibility, Invisibility, Telekinesis, flight, Inodorosity, communication with the dead, sixth sense (can tell when things will happen/sense if people can be trusted), destruction of objects, object possession (only small ones)
And as for immortality... We do not know whether Nathan will live forever as he has already died. There is a way to kill but it is very difficult.
The ability to improvise and imitate. If your job is to possess and pretend in order to fool or tempt someone in revealing information, then you need to be able to act very well and be able to know what to do and say even when things go wrong. Nathan has obtained this technique through his skill of observation and can copy someone's mannerisms and habits. It also helps him put on a mask in social situations.
Accents and hiding his own as when he possesses people, his accent could give it away (however, he usually has access to their vocal cords and can follow their natural muscular movement in his throat)
Does being dead count as a flaw?
Facility patient (Anyone from the facility í̲̣̬̺̪͉ś̭̬̦̣ ͍͙f͉̮l̠̳̘̥a͎͕̱̭̹͜ͅw͖̫̹̳͕̞̮͜e̗͔̥̝͟d̰̭̟͞)
Boisterous. (It can be quite "overpowering" sometimes especially when people are tired or not in the mood for games.)
May sometimes invade privacy. (Since no one can hear or see him and no physical barrier can stop him entering anywhere he has free rein on where he can go. This means he'll follow/spy on people without their permission or knowledge whether it be because he's concerned/suspicious about them or for personal reasons. This makes some of his friends rather paranoid and have no choice but to trust him that he won't observe)
Social awkwardness may or may not count as a flaw depending on who he's talking to. He won't be the first choice for charisma.
Aimless -- Since he is dead and can't have an occupation, many hobbies nor pursue social experience, he sometimes is seen and feels rather aimless in life and has no real need to attempt/ do things. You'll find that life is an era of time where humans can only find stability in the idea of having a purpose. Once they become deceased, there's no real need.
Continuing on from our previous article, One of Nathans motives is having a purpose even in this apparition limbo of his. He hates the idea of being nothing more than an inaudible echo of his living self. That's one reason why he joined the Divergence.
Friends and acquaintances. He is extremely lonely in his world and being able to possess the living and actually speak, move and listen to them is amazing. Sometimes we take our time with one and other for granted.
The search for his parents. Ever since he passed away from the stabbing that killed him, he has been unable to locate his parents. However, with the help of Avia Donielle Petelo and the Divergence, he eventually does find them which is the biggest relief to him.
Constantly swallowing when nervous (especially when in the eve of a social gathering)
Reliance on native slang and phrases (Scottish in origin) and usually does so subconsciously, Has to sometimes rephrase for his listeners.
Whistles a lot, which scares the shit out of some of his friends and enemies as they can fluctuate in and out of the human hearing range. This, however, is impossible to do with his voice.
Rubbing the neck when embarrassed
Nose twitching or wrinkling
Running a hand through the hair
These mannerisms can sometimes blow his cover if he's possessed someone and is posing as them, especially if the person they're trying to fool is very observant.
Nathan was born on the 10th October 1993 in Edinburgh to a Flora and William Macavoy. His mother was a well-paid consultant and his father was a software engineer. Nathan lived a completely ordinary life for the first decade; achieving average grades in school and having a wide circle of friends. Because of his mother's job, it meant that either she or they travelled a lot and often ended up on going on work-related holidays.
On September 22nd 2003, Nathan had returned from a week in New York as his mother attended business there. They had landed in Manchester as they were going to see his grandparents on his father's side. They were staying in an apartment and decided to go out for dinner, ultimately making them stay out late. As they began to travel back, his father felt like something was wrong. He noticed they were being followed by an assailant and therefore had to act like they hadn't noticed. His father knew these parts and was leading them to a nearby square before Flora saw the stalker had vanished. Just as they turned a corner on the main street, the assailant emerged from an alleyway and threatened the family with a knife. He requested Flora's purse, jewellery and his father's wallet, alongside any other valuables they possessed. Nathan's parents slowly began to hand them over. The robber seemed paranoid (from drugs but unknown at the time) and extremely jumpy. William dropped his wallet suddenly by accident and Nathan PLUS the robber both knelt down to get it at the same time. The mugger was startled and stabbed Nathan in the chest by reflex.
William called the ambulance and police stating a robbing had taken place by knife and that a ten-year-old had been stabbed. The robber ran away with only the wallet as emergency services arrived in minutes.
Nathan was taken to Royal Manchester Infirmary and underwent immediate surgery. The surgery lasted 2 hours and, sadly, was unsuccessful and ended promptly as Nathan was named deceased at 2:46 am on September 23rd 2003 due to obstructions of the heart and internal trauma.
He was kept in the Morgue of the hospital and then buried back in Edinburgh on the 12th October. (Two days after his birthday).
However, with Nathan passing away in his youth and his grave being recently filled, it made him an easy target for the Body-Snatchers/Corpse Marauders ; an illegal association of ex-criminals and businessmen with a morbid interest in making profit by stealing and selling dead bodies to companies and medical industries needing something to experiment on or other.
On November 2nd, Nathan's body was abducted from the graveyard and placed into a preserver reserve made by the Body-Snatchers as a storage unit, before a wealthy buyer emerged.
Not before long, a buyer did appear, no other than the Facility, who were wanting more human material for their scientific advances. They "bought" the Body-Snatchers into giving them a fresh batch of cadavers, Nathan's included.
He was assorted to Project Revenant on November 10th 2003, a theological experiment in testing the barriers and legitimacy of resurrection and "ghosts". Their aim was successful after spending 7 years nourishing and improving Nathan's body to the point where his tissues and biological health and matter was to the condition of a living/recently deceased person. They preserved his body in cryostasis alongside experimenting with astral projection using electrical fields, electromagnetic spectrum plus magic. Then on the day of 28th August 2010 after 37 tries of resurrecting Xa-56 (Nathan's Barcode/label), The facility successfully separated Nathan's physical body to his "soul" and spent the next 3 years studying and experimenting his ghost until Insurgents Run took place, where Nathan was one of the 324 patients that escaped.
He ended up possessing another patient, Xi-55 AKA Jeong Min-Seok and spent 6 months inhabiting his body until he was found in Allegheny National Forest in Pennsylvania by Jayden Noah Lewis and Lúiza-Mae Santos in December. They took Nathan and Min-Seok back to the Cylo and spent hours finally separating them. Min-Seok was in a coma for around a week due to being possessed for so long whilst Nathan was in a state of altered consciousness as being dead but aware and conscious is not a natural state for a human being. After a while, both "Min" and "Nat" agreed to stay at the Cylo and eventually be apart of the OG members of the divergence.
Now Nathan is back to his usual self and is becoming more powerful and consistent with his abilities. He does eventually reunite with his parents in Edinburgh (which is rather sad) as can never see his physical self again and only loves his personality (which brings into play the argument of do we love the exterior or interior of a person?)
He makes good friends with Avia (and dabbles in a relationship) alongside taking the codename Revenant.
October 10th 1993 (from 2015)
Nathan went to both a primary school in Edinburgh and received a typical yet thorough education. He achieved moderate grades yet did particularly well in History, Geography and PE.
He would really like a pet dog as animals are one of the only things that are able to hear/ kinda sense him during to their hearing range and ability to sense changes in the electric fields in the air.
He finds it funny if he was able to have a ghost dog (if that's possible)
- Body snatchers are apart of the anarchy Spiral, a spiral where there are different levels and right in the middle lies the Facility.
- Reunion scene with parents is rather sad (interior/exterior theory, true love favours interior.)
- He can possess animals as well (mistakes Hunter for an animal and possesses him by accident)
- Can't possess Bruce. He is distorted by how much Bruce interferes with all the spectrums.
- He's apart of Generation X as he can go anywhere, be anyone.
- "I could, right now, literally walk into the white house, possess the president and request a nuclear strike."
- Remember he struggles to hide his Scottish accent sometimes HOWEVER he is from Edinburgh so it's not that thick.
- Antikeímenokinesis
- Invisibility
- Intangibility
- Flight
- Astrakinesis
- Ghost Physiology
- Immortality (since he's already dead)
- Poltergeist Physiology
- Imperceptibility
- Possession
- Small object Possession
- Non-Physical Interaction
- Supernatural senses
- Physical Force Immunity
- Enhanced Abilities

Navy blue.
Though he never really believed in God, the fact he has been resurrected, he has been more interested in the beliefs and faiths in the ideas of philosophy and theology.
Nathan is more interested in the politics of the UK as that is his home country, therefore, is constantly keeping up to date with the news and politics over there. Therefore, since he is situated in America, many of his allies don't understand or know about that system. However, he does keep up to date with politics in the US. His parents constantly told him how important it was to be up to date and informed with the current news and events of the world.
He's a divergent member and Facility patient. Though he was made to observe and protect, alongside petrify and possess, he does it in a way which suits him and not in the way he was trained. He does want to help the world and help the people within it, yet doesn't enjoy the responsibility and attitudes "superheroes" have.
He also acts as an investigator and researcher since he cannot be detected. It becomes very useful when seeking information.
Nathan doesn't need to eat but when he possesses people he likes to order his favourite food of either Shepards/fish pie.
Teddy bear which he had up till the age of 10. It was a gift from his grandparents when they first saw him as a newborn.
He doesn't have a weapon of choice but he does enjoy his poltergeist physiology and the ability to scare people. However, he does find weapons like axes, machine guns and chainsaws very heavy-handed and entertaining. That's why he enjoys action and horror films so much.
Sea Otters or Labradors. They both look cute but one is dangerous and the other is just... cute.
Nathan does not have a job and does not need one. However, during the period of the timeline where the Divergence split, he poises as a farmer in Scotland as an escape and to hide in isolation as a person from the hustle and bustle of cities. It takes his allies a long time to track him down and find him.
