Bal doesn't often talk about his past, but he was born in Goldcrest and grew up inside the city's walls never knowing the outside world. He learned the apothecary arts to help with the sick and injured inside the city and even owned his own shop with several others. But the other two wanted more, and they convinced Bal to try and escape with them. Surely the world beyond the walls couldn't be that bad.

Bal was the only one who got to know that world, however, as the other two died in the escape attempt. He barely escaped with his life, spending weeks in the wilderness trying to survive until he reached Kamaria by accident. The people there took him in and gave him the help he needed, and eventually set him up with his own shop once more once his skills became quite apparent.

For the most part he still runs that shop, and just tries to do his best so he can make his friends proud since they can't be with him.
