Born to parents who served with The Mage Hunters, Avery grew up raised collectively by the group and learning from them. Despite displaying magical talent herself the Mage Hunters were certain that being told the dangers of her power all her life would help temper her when it came to using them.

And in a way, it did. When The Collapse hit and killed the leader of the Mage Hunters among many others Avery stepped up to take over. She rarely uses her magic unless there's no other choice, and is the reason the Mage Hunters formed an alliance with The Order of the Blue Rose - unlike her predecessor she can see the merit in working with them for now and eliminating them later, while making it seem like the Order will be safe from the planned purge if they cooperate.
