Ash's family has always been in service to a noble family out of Brightwitch and Ash knew this would always be her lot in life. The family had a daughter born a few years after Ash, and the two were great friends growing up but seem to have grown distant in their adult lives after Ash signed up with The Adventurer's Guild and became trained as an airship operator.

The Guild gave her control of The Star Caller, the vehicle technically on loan to the noble family for their use as needed in exchange for it being used for Guild business when the family doesn't need it.

This isn't the life Ash wanted, but she's learned to accept her place and do as she's told without complaining.
