Lasnar's family worked in the merchants district of Thylian, trading both with caravans headed deeper underground and those returning to the surface. They traded in general goods that those caravans might need, taking anything of fair value for trade and in turn having the connections to trade any items given to them for coin or more materials to keep the business going.

Lasnar learned to speak a myriad of languages in order to communicate with clients in their native tongues so they could feel more comfortable, and it was a skill that brought quite a bit of work to the shop as word spread that speaking common wasn't a requirement to do business there.

However such prosperity was not to last. While The Collapse didn't hit Rothary as hard as it did other countries the event shook up the world and disrupted trade to many places. Thylian was not exempt from this, and soon Lasnar had to close up shop because there simply wasn't enough traffic to keep them going.

In looking for other work she heard that The Crystal River Academy was looking for teachers to replace those lost in the calamity. She headed off to see if she could be of help, and her ability to speak multiple languages fluently was exactly what they needed so she came to work for them, and has been teaching at the Academy ever since.
