Kilvim's parents died in The Collapse, leaving the young orc to fend for herself in the devastated world. She began to pick up languages close to her native Orcish and act as a translator in order to survive, and as a teen found her way to The Crystal River Academy hoping that they might be able to help her. She spent a few years learning the languages she had learned in a more formal setting as the teaching assistant to the teacher at the time, and then eventually took over as the teacher when her mentor retired.

She's been teaching for over a decade now, happily teaching those interested and doing her best to make sure they understand not just the languages but the cultural aspects as well.
