Francine's mother found out she was pregnant just before The Collapse happened, and when the world started to fall apart she fled for Rothary and The Crystal River Academy hoping to find shelter for herself and her unborn child.

Thankfully the Academy was already taking in refugees and she found herself safe. Sadly she passed in childbirth, but the headmistress kept the woman's wish to name her daughter and took the girl in as her own.

Thus Francine grew up in the Academy, attending when she was of age and graduating with flying colors. She always loved potions, and with the existing teacher aging and getting ready to retire the headmistress convinced her to tutor Francine so that she could take over when she graduated.

Despite her young age Francine is an excellent teacher, wanting her students to love the art of creating potions as much as she does and doing her best to make it a fun class they can all enjoy.
