Bob Vurto
Reluctant Transporter of the HGO
Goes by his last name
24
Male
He/him
5'5"
148 lbs.
Non-revealing clothes, dark colors, trench coats
Vurto's most striking trait is his stark baldness. A rare autoimmune disease called alopecia universalis has made him lose all the hair on his body, though he draws in his eyebrows every morning to look a little more normal. He has a very tired, irritated look about him: his brown eyes are slightly sunken, his mouth is a thin line often warped into a disinterested scowl, and his narrow shoulders slope downwards, contrasting against the right angles of his taller brothers. Add that to his short, skinny build – among the shortest of the HGO, in fact – and his appearance calls to mind a small, angry cat.
Peace and quiet, the smell of old books, spicy food
Idiots, being underappreciated, his first name, being touched without his permission
Never finding a reason to exist, that no one will ever like him for who he is
Reading, writing poetry, gardening, Grim Reaper lore
Heterosexual
To those that don't know him, and many that do, Vurto can be quite standoffish. He has a bad habit of seeing himself as "above" whoever he's talking to unless they've thoroughly proven otherwise, and pushes almost everyone away as a result. Most people quickly give up on befriending him. He does have a softer side, but he has trouble expressing it publicly; it isn't uncommon to catch him doing someone a favor in secret, only for him to vehemently deny it.
Scythe
Vurto prefers to use his scythe in battle, though he sometimes overestimates his own skills. He is a competent mage, however, and when things turn dire, he will use the two in conjunction with each other, dodging attacks by jumping through portals into a more advantageous position.
Nicholas Vaughn's cartography assistant
Vurto was adopted by Alex Relson when he was young; he was happy to finally get consistent food and shelter after a rough few years on his own, but had a hard time sharing for a while. He is rarely happy with his HGO work, feeling like his true strength is never put to proper use.
One day, he was assigned a mission to speak with some of the latest recruits in the Soul Guardians in order to figure out what they were being promised. It was through this that he met Nicholas Vaughn, and found an unlikely kindred spirit in him due to their mutual dissatisfaction with life in general. Vurto wound up agreeing to help Nicholas with his goal of mapping out all of Terrata, using his Space Magic to get them wherever they needed to be. Despite their opposite personalities, Vurto would call Nicholas his friend, and finds himself genuinely enjoying their outings.
Vermiciro (Iwaku account, now defunct)
"I can't stand people who don't know how to mind their own business, or ask the right questions if they do have to stick their noses in."
"I only bother if it's something only I could do, like something that requires my Space magic. If anyone could do it, I can never shake the feeling that no one needs me or wants me to be there."
"I bury myself in my hobbies, usually. If I can't, that stress will stick with me all day, even after I get out from under whatever situation brought it on."
"Probably not... I'd have to find the right partner, first of all."
"I guess the closest thing I have to a job right now is being Nicholas's assistant. It's... I enjoy it more than I thought I would, let's leave it at that."
"I hope it never comes down to that, but I guess I could if my life depended on it."
"I guess... I like how people can master all sorts of different skills. If it's someone who doesn't get on my nerves, I like talking to people that know a lot about something specific. It's fun to trade facts with them."
