He was born to Heather and Kody along with his older brother, Riley, who was 4 when he was born. They grew with on their father's farm and Hunter hated to work. He would have rather enjoyed his life without any worries. Still, he got up every day and did his chores, like feeding the animals.
His father, an extremely hard worker, constantly got into fights with his son, even getting physical once when Hunter was 15. Heather yelled at both of them, saying that they were old enough to know better.
Life went on as usual and when he was 16, he met Jasmine as she came with her family to get some food from his. He was lazing about at the time and she waved at him. He waved back, his heart fluttering. Having no one else his age to hang out with since his brother had started dating a boy named Ryan, he secretly handed her a note, asking if she wanted to meet. She looked at him and quickly nodded and they made a time, date and location. Hunter then started to ignore his responsibilities even more and his father eventually caught on.
They spent a lot of time together in secret from both of their parents and they eventually fell in love. One night Hunter had snuck out, Kody followed him to where Jasmine and he normally met. He and Hunter had a huge argument which ended with Kody forbidding Hunter to see Jasmine. He came to his mother and brother about this, hoping for some help, and they agreed with Hunter. His father was outraged when the rest of the family agreed with Hunter, saying he's been old enough and this could help him work harder on the farm. Kody eventually agreed and let Hunter and Jasmine date.
After a week, Hunter met with her again, saying his family had accepted them dating now. She asked him if she could live with them, saying how terrible her parents treated her. Hunter agreed and he helped her get away from her home. His parents were upset at first but after hearing Jasmine's story, they welcomed her in. Her parents found her at Hunter's home and they told Jasmine that she was a danger to the family and everyone else too. When she told them she wasn't, she was hit in the face by Quinton. Kody and Heather told Quinton and Violet to leave as Hunter went to grab Jasmine. They left, saying that Jasmine would be the end of everyone.
They eventually got married when Hunter was 24 while Jasmine was 20. They lived on the farm, with his parents moving to a house close to the farm. He had to carry on his parents legacy because Riley had already left with his husband, Ryan, 3 years prior. Hunter and Jasmine had a son named Cole that same year. When Cole was 3, Hunter had gone out to do some normal chores when he came across a young colt. Seeing he had been abandoned, he took him in, naming him Phantom. Phantom loved his new family and grew up alongside Cole.
2 years later, Karla and Tristan, her husband, came to get some food. Hunter was happy for Jasmine and started his own relationship with them. Jasmine also introduced them to Cole.
Once, when Cole was 6, he fell off a small loft in the barn while Hunter turned his back. He broke his right leg and fractured his right arm. Jasmine immediately blamed her husband and she yelled at him to go to find a healer for Cole. After Cole was healed, Hunter and Jasmine had a huge argument. She got worse after that, constantly invaded his privacy, not letting him explore, and not let him work on the farm alone.
When he got older, he started to distance himself more and more from his family. Jasmine eventually started to give him more freedom, at the suggestion from Hunter, but the damage had already been done.
One day when Cole was 14, he was doing chores when he started yelling at someone. Jasmine asked Hunter to see what was wrong. Hunter went out and found the young teen. Dakota explained that they were cold and looking for a place to stay. Feeling sympathy for the young teen, he allowed them to stay with the family. He came back in them and he said he was gonna take them in. Jasmine was hesitant at first but quickly warmed up to them.
After a month and a half, they asked if they could leave. Cole was ready for them to leave, Hunter and Jasmine insisted they stay. They agreed but only if they could live outside of the house, suggesting the barn. Hunter denied and said that he would help build a house for them that was close by. The entire family and Dakota started building the house and they continued to live in their home.
After the house was built, Cole felt guilty for turning Dakota away and asked if he could stay with them that night. Jasmine and Hunter both agreed and they spent the night together. Cole came back the next morning, in high spirits to both the surprise and joy of his parents. Everything seemed fine until 2 years later...
