Mystros is the second child of the Cinderash family, born just a dozen years after her sister Azla Klark. While Azla was set up to marry into royalty and become queen from the moment Mystros was born, Mystros herself was trained to become head of the family.

The Cinderash family deals in the mines and similar processes, including overseeing the blacksmiths that work within the city. To help ensure the integrity of dwarven work anyone wishing to find employ as a blacksmith in Halberton must be vetted by the family - there's no such process for apprentices, but work done by them cannot be sold and if they wish to become masters begin making their own money they have to pass a test that proves the quality of their work.

Mystros is expected to oversee these tests and be the judge, meaning she often has to turn down people doing sub-par work and be ever vigilant for people trying to cheat the system. After all, should someone fail to live up to the expectations of the towns smiths then it's on her head and she faces the consequences as well.
