Theo grew up near the seaside in Astrum. His mother ran an inn, and he never knew his father. Chosen by the only son of a powerful noble, Thala, to serve as an attendant, he was forcefully taken to the capital city, Kara. Eventually, Thala would run away from home, bringing Theo with him (willingly this time), stealing a ship in the process.
