Though Sylvain and Marianne on winger critters is actually a good brain bubble tho… except I need Sylvain to back up Leoni and Lorenz, so maybe one of them?
Maybe I'll just stick Lorenz on a pegasus and see if he stays alive longer.
Yeah, depending on the map, sometimes the strat is actually to keep the whole team together and use movement on mounted units to hit and run back to the group.
That said, I'm known to play more defensively than most.
Except I'd need more of those expensive seals for that…
sigh

Hoenstly that's a good strategy,
I tend to group people up and spread out on the offensive…
I use my long ranged characters to take out stronger enemies so my middle guys can clean up the rest…
Hilda often takes out the leader if she stays alive long enough.
The big guy, (I can't remember his name rn for some reason) is pretty good at hanging back and guarding Marianne if she's not with the character representing me, either Marianne or Lysithea, or both.
Raphael? Yeah, he's pretty tanky.
Usually I just let enemy waves come at me. It wouldn't apply very well in real war because we don't have healing magic in meatspace, but it works for fire emblem
Yeah, slow but tanky. He's good for taking out the goons that get by my other guys.
And yeah, that definitely wouldn't work for real-life warfare XD
Personally, I prefer pegasus knights to wyvern riders, as wyvern riders have insanely low resistance and they're weak to bows, whereas pegasus knights tend to have more resistance. And about Raphael being tanky but slow, most tanky guys are slow too. But Raphael is super overpowered if you give him gauntlets and level him up. Personally I've never used him much (I'm on my third run through and first I took the church route (stoopid me), second the blue lions route (the only one where I actually recruited Raphael), and now I'm going to take the TRUE black eagles route), but when I have used him he's just super strong and attacks like four times dealing about 50 damage with each hit. Strategically, on more difficult maps, I keep my characters so that they're all in one big formation, with each character having at least one other character next to them. My fliers, of course, fly out and take out the commanders, but usually die on the way. Mages are amazing, and I typically make one of my mages get the rhythmancer class, since rhythmancers can use magic, a fact I didn't know at first (coming from Awakening here). Lysithea (I recruited her on my Blue Lions run through) was super powerful, but she was a glass cannon–she died really easily due to lack of hit points and defense. This resulted in me rarely using her, instead preferring Dorothea, Marianne, and Mercedes. Do any of you like bow knights? After playing Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, bow knights in every other game seem super underpowered, but in Three Houses they're…not quite as good as in Echoes, but definitely better than in Awakening or Fates (the other two FE games I've played). Who is your favourite house leader? (Sorry if this has already been covered, but I'm new to notebook and didn't feel like vertically surfing through a screen through three pages of text right now.)
Do… do you know how to use the enter key? Like… to make paragraphs? (No offense intended but that is a huge block of text and it's hard to read)
Oh sorry! I just forgot to do so! I will certainly use it in the future. Thank you for the reminder!
Of course! Apologies if that came out rude tho
Not at all! As I hate reading through large blocks of text myself, I don't know why I always forget to make paragraphs (except in my papers for school…)
No worries, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it
Also quick tip, if u are on a portable series of electrotubes famous adjacent mindtickle machine or smth, tab+enter will post, rather than vertically surfing through a screen for the reply button
Unless there are links in ur post, then u click whatever link was first, (if there are multiple links)
Ok. Thank you so much! Despite your username, you reply quite a lot!
Just recapping that paragraph:
Raphael is overpowered, and gauntlets in general are overpowered;
I prefer keeping Marianne as a healer;
Lysithea is a glass cannon–powerful, but low on HP and DEF;
I prefer pegasus knights to wyvern riders b/c wyverns tend to have low RES, and pegasi have higher of that stat.
Also, (again, sorry if this has already been covered), who is your favourite character, house leader, whatever, storywise, and gameplay wise?
So far my favourite characters are Claude, Hilda, and Sylvaine, for various reasons
And I like Wyvern riders because they look cool and I haven't really had any pegasus riders yet.
.
And to note my user, I put that there because I've been very sporadic with a lot of my Roleplay threads lately, I tend to be very active in threads like this that I actually show interest in, otherwise I have mainly roleplay in my DMs, and some of them have been laid off for a bit due to burnout.
My user is currently acting as an explanation to those people, because I won't always talk to them directly.
(Off topic: I saw you like Ranger's Apprentice?? I love those grimoires!!)
noice to all of that (including the off-topic note)! And I was simply making an observation about your username, not trying to poke fun at you or anything. But that makes sense. And omg I love Sylvain! I also really like Felix, Linhardt, Lysithea, and ALL the house leaders (like you, for various reasons).
What are yall feeding Raphael that he's actually good? He always gets outclassed by literally anyone else. See, when it comes to gauntlets, imo swordmaster Felix is the way to go.
Also Balthus is the best brawler in the game, but he is dlc
Raphael is just a really good heavy hitter depending on how you use him, he's great for cleaning up leftovers and dealing hard punches to monsters.
I have him as a Warmaster, (I think?) And using an axe or sometimes gauntlets… Honestly I need to have I'm using gauntlets more just for the power.
Yeah…idk what he got (I know I chose to eat like all the time in the monastery lol). I think I just leveled him up a bit. He dealt like 70 damage with each hit of his gauntlets and he hit 4 times…(okay, maybe 70 is a little bit of an exaggeration, perhaps around 40?)
I've kind of put brawler/Warmaster types to the wayside. They're fine for normal level play but once you get into hard, and God forbid maddening, their hit rates go down so much its hardly worth it
ehh… I honestly don't know anymore…
I haven't played in over a week so I would have to look at it to give you a better brain bubble of my main play group
All I know is I ALWAYS use Felix, Lysithea, Sylvain, and Petra. The rest depends on my path and the difficulty I'm playing on.
Yeah, Brawlers/Warmasters are never my faves…and the only FE game I've played on hard is Awakening, which I've played like four times (I love it soo much!), and I haven't played any FE games on lunatic/maddening (but I've only played like five–the ones after Awakening).
I always liked using Shamir since she was just ridiculously strong for some reason…not to mention she got to be a bow knight, which are not as overpowered as they are in Echoes (seriously, they are OVERPOWERED), but close to that level of awesomeness.
And that made me think of how weak Manuela, Hanneman, Cyril, Flayn, and Seteth always were for me. Seriously, Manuela never learns Physic, making her inferior to literally every other mage (I don't remember whether Flayn learns Physic or not).
Honestly, Cyril's not too bodge as long as he's not being attacked too often…
I haven't really used Flayn tho, she was too weak…
Seteth sometimes, but only when I need an extra Wyvern rider
I honestly don't really like mages too much, it's hard to equip them properly and their defence is.. just.. sighs in frustration
I will admit that Lysithea can be surprisingly powerful though… and Marianne has saved my hide a bunch… I'm trying to turn both into mounted mages for better movement, but… it's slow going.
Flayn is only good as a rhythmancer- but she's not even the best rhythmancer in the game. And no, she does not learn physic.
Mages are amazing, you just have to be careful with battle formations of course. Otherwise they get destroyed.
And hot take? They should stop genderlocking classes. Linhardt, for example, suffers from not having access to the gremory class. A lot of the guys would benefit from dipping into Pegasus knight to get the mastery skill. And dark mage is locked to guys only, which sucks because it would make some of the ladies even more broken.
OOooooooo I would love to turn Lysithea into a dark mage!!!
And I think Lorenz would do SO well as a pegasus knight, like…
And also what is a Gremory??
