Okay, long shot, since this thread has been dead for a while… but!

One of my characters is attacked from behind by someone who is trying to slit her throat. She manages to escape him by falling into the river. So, for story purposes, her throat has to be cut in some way and she has to live. How can I achieve this? Would the water pressure stop the blood loss from being too much? How long would she be able to stay alive, if she didn't down first? How deep could the cut before it's impossible for her to survive?

Thanks!

Okay, so unless the river was really deep I doubt the water pressure would do shit, and honestly the cut can't be that deep or it'll sever the jugular vein and KILL YOU. Okay? Probably a 16th of an inch deep if not shallower, but i'm speculating here.

I am usually aggressive, thank you for affirming my Knife vibes.

So I have a character that gets stabbed in the stomach sorta below the kidneys. Someone called an ambulance, but how long would he be in the hospital, and how would the healing process look like?

@Masterkey

@Pepsi-spilled-on-the-pages I'm not an expert in this area or anything, but after researching it for a bit, if the object didn't like twist around too much in the abdomen (like it stayed in position and went in and out smoothly), and if it didn't puncture any major organs, then the person would probably just be in the hospital a day or two and after that it would take a few weeks to have mostly normal movement after that. If it stabbed a major organ (is your character stabbed in the back below the kidneys or the side?) then there might have to be surgery and there would be a higher likelihood of infection (especially if they got stabbed in the intestines, fecal matter is gross), so that would increase the hospital time and definitely recovery time. I'd recommend you go on Reddit or find someone you know (or find someone you know who knows someone) who is a nurse. You'd probably get better information that way!

What is involved in an exorcism? Specifically one meant to “cure” autism? I have a backstory for a Pokémon Go character that involves their parents being in a shadow Pokémon cult and trying to cure their autism that way. (Yes I know autism can’t be “cured” and shouldn’t be, I’m autistic myself. And don’t worry, that character got out because one of the newer cult members snuck away and called 911)

If someone fell into a ravine, and they landed on decently hard rocks, is it possible for the impact to break their spine (the bones, not the cord) but not kill them on impact? And if so, how fast/long would the drop be?

Obvs the someone would be in a hell's worth of agony and/or unconscious. How long could they last if the injury goes untreated?

This is very important for, uh, reasons. Authorial reasons.
