Wait I just had a thought: every wizard in Texas is homeschooled bc they're too redneck to head to Florida or Nevada just for some fancy highschool. we all know that Texans have a general disregard for personal safety. some of us know that homeschool is often just math and then the rest of the day is do-as-you-will-as-long-as-you-learn sorta thing. terrifying thought.

@clovxrblossxm

anyone have any idea what Ilvermorny would be like? I mean, there's the four houses and it was based off of Hogwartz, but location? classes? is there a redneck dark lord? do they pronounce spells differently? what do you think?

It supposed to be located somewhere near Massachusetts I think or at least in the general area of states. I noticed in Fantastic Beast, the American wizards didn’t say spells (or at least not often) so I wonder if that ties into the type of curriculum they have.

That's…. one way of looking at it. this thing has been haunting me for months now so I'm more in the territory of "intensely disturbing" (but thank you!)
I hate this chat for being a source of such bizarre and stubborn inspiration

Okay but consider this- American students just demolioshing the dark lord becuase one, they already deal with enough shit from the government, they aren't about to tolerate this. And two, they have guns.

@Yamatsu

That's… that's a glorious idea.
"Expelliarmus!"
"DUDE ALL YOU DID WAS SHOOT HIS HAND OFF"

"It disarmed him, didn't it?"

I think in canon the American witches are all taught nonverbal spells because they were all hunted during the Salem Witch trials, so they had to learn to do magic in the least conspicuous way possible. So yeah, Ilvermorny would really only teach nv spells

The deadly curses are just slang and memes
The killing curse- "Then Perish"
Crucio: "Okay Boomer."
The mind control one- "Weird flex, but okay."

Oh my god yes

@Yamatsu

It's all the magic guns from Enter the Gungeon. A rifle that expends all the magic from a wand into a concentrated beam, a bunch of wands taped together that fire like a shotgun, and a magic wand taped onto a regular-ass gun.

Omg, you could even put another school in like northern Wisconsin in the middle on now where, where they do dogsled races but with magical animals in the winter.
