Trinity walked up with her pack of supplies. "I'll go…if you let me."
Trinity walked up with her pack of supplies. "I'll go…if you let me."
Jackie looked at Trinity and shrugged. "Sure, I guess." She shook her head as if to clear her thoughts. "I mean, of course you can. In this situation, we all need to work together." Jackie paused, then mumbled, "and I haven't really been doing that."
A smile rises to Trinity's face. This was all she ever wanted, others to see her as equal. And, it may finally be happening. "Thank you… I really am a nice person…It's just people assume." She turns away as if she was embarrassed. "Let's go kick some zombie ass!" She smirks.
Jackie laughed. "Let's do this thing!" Jackie started storming out the door, but stopped. "Um, where do we start?" She asked, turning to Trinity.
"How well do the gas masks hold up against the fog?"
"I guess we can't know for sure. This Fog hasn't really been around for scientists to know. But we need to find a way to cure all these students. They have lives, and they can't just be tossed away!" Tears started forming in Jackie's eyes when she thought about her soccer team. They were her friends when her life at home was terrible. They stuck up for her, and now they may be zombies.
Trinity's eyes watered too… the cheer squad…they were mindless, emotionless creatures, and she can't do anything to stop it. "I have an idea. We should collect a gas sample, I know there is some chemical analysis equipment in here. If we learn more about the gas, than we can learn how to counteract it."
Jackie grinned. "Great idea." The two girls now turned friends walked to the science lab to get a test tube.
"Why so surprised? I'm more than just a pretty face." She said laughing. Trinity grabs a test tube. "We should have thought of this before. It would have been a lot easier."
Jackie laughed along, but inside she felt terrible. This whole time she had been ignoring Trinity or shoving her ideas to the side because of her previous thoughts about her. This group needed Trinity. Jackie had realized that just now, that they couldn't go without her. She had brains, yet she had compassion. She had bravery, yet she had humility. She had everything that a hero needed.
Clyde threw his gas mask over his nose and walked in the opposite direction of the girls. He walked into a classroom and found a whole squad of zombies gnawing away at a student. They all turned in his direction and he panicked.
