Jackie was standing by the window that the boys had jumped out of. "Just be careful, we can't afford to lose anyone!" She twisted her hair absentmindedly while waiting to see if Carson and Tasper were in the tree house.
Jackie was standing by the window that the boys had jumped out of. "Just be careful, we can't afford to lose anyone!" She twisted her hair absentmindedly while waiting to see if Carson and Tasper were in the tree house.
Nyir looked back at Jackie. "Shut the window! We don't want fog in the school."
"Guys!" Ben exclaimed, "We need to hurry! We cant afford another minute outside in this stinking fog!"
Doing as Mrs. Heol said, Jackie quickly forced the window shut, but didn't lock it. She needed to be able to open it quickly when the others came back.
"Need help?" Ben asked Nyir.
Nyir nodded gratefully, accepting his assistance higher into the tree.
Helping her so she would get a grip on the roof of the tree house, Ben tried to open up the window, but though boys had it barricaded off. "Carson!?" Ben yelled, "We're getting you and the others out of there!" The kids inside began too move around, and then out of nowhere, the window shutters flew open. Nearly nocking Ben and Nryi off, they both managed to grip back onto the tree house. A little head then popped out, along with the gas mask as well.
"Your alive!" Nryi exclaimed.
When Nyir spotted those familiar crazy dreadlocks and nonchalant expression, she felt tears well in her eyes. "Tasper! You're…you're alive." Shaking away her tears impatiently, she squared her shoulders. "Lets get you guys inside."
Tasper managed to squeeze out the blocked window. Crawling onto Bens back, the young 11 year old boy was now half way there to safety. Looking into the house, Ben spotted three other people, one he did not recognize, the other was Carson, and the other? Even with a gas mask on, Ben could always distinguish Elis older brother Helmer.
"Lets get out of here." Ben said, helping the two brown hair boys out of the tree house fort.
Tasper shrugged a shoulder, pulling himself off of Ben and onto a lower branch. "Watch my back, Mom. Zombies." He smiled.
Nyir sighed. "I got you, Tas. Get into the school." She followed after him after making sure the others were behind her.
Clyde crawled back into the second story school window first, sitting in the cracked windowsill help everyone inside and making sure they all got there.
Jackie made sure everyone still kept their gas mask on, because with the window open, The Fog could seep through and infect the kids inside. "Hurry guys. Is everyone in?"
"i think everyone's in," Clyde said, looking around and counting heads, "alright, what we should do is get to the cafeteria and stock up on food and water, then make a hideout."
Jackie nodded and followed Clyde to the cafeteria. It seemed abandoned. There were people there just an hour ago, so where could they have gone?
"Do you think we can call the police force so they can rescue us?" Ben asked.
"Do they even know what happened? What if The Fog hasn't reached them yet?" Jackie wasn't sure of what to do anymore. It's not like this was in the school handbook.
"cell service is out," Clyde looked around frantically, "the service is down, it must have been destroyed." He pulled a gallon of water an tucked it under his arm. Clyde ran his fingers through his floppy hair and looked at the others, "where should we hold up camp?" He asked quietly.
"Somewhere that is a bit isolated, yet still easy to get into if you know where to find it. Like, it shouldn't be obvious. What about inside the kitchens?" Jackie suggested. "We could grab some supplies from the janitor's closet."
"I think we should stay in the cafeteria," Nyir suggested in an authoritative voice. "That way we will have enough space for all the students."
Clyde nodded, walking to a big metal door, left cracked open. He looked inside and when he saw no one, he opened it and headed inside, "here," he said, "we should hide out in here, there's tons of food, water, and space here. It's not safe anywhere else."
Trinity sits back by the wall, she wasn't wanted here. And she knew that. (I'm sorry I wasn't here…)
"Should we scout out around the school some more for any more students and teachers? It can't just be us in the school." Jackie sat on a counter, her ponytail swinging behind her.
Jackie was better at this, she knew, she just thought that labels wouldn't matter-especially at this time.
Clyde turned to Jackie, "Sure. We should split up. Some of us stay here and hold up camp, and the others go out for survivors; this school is dangerous, and huge, be careful."
"Of course," Jackie agreed. "Who wants to go with me to look around the school?" She got her broom and stood at the door, waiting for volunteers.
